Local departure by coach or Home Connect service and then onto the Burn Hall Hotel for a four-night stay.
Today we make our way into the Yorkshire Dales, first calling at Ripon and then making our way to Masham on the edge of the National Park. Here we visit the Black Sheep Brewery, where you can learn more about the beer brewing process and taste some of the fine ales created here.
We then venture into the Yorkshire Dales, travelling via Aysgarth to reach Hawes. This pretty village is home to the Wensleydale Creamery. We’ll hear the details of how cheese is made, enjoy a few samples, and you’ll have the opportunity to take a delicious souvenir home from the gift shop, which offers a huge variety of flavoured cheeses.
Today we discover the magnificent city of York. Enjoy a visit to the York Cocoa House which takes you on a journey of 4,000 years through the history of chocolate, from its exotic origins in the rainforests to the cobbled streets of York. York is home to some of the most famous confectioner names in the country, including Rowntrees and Terry's –Learn how the chocolate is crafted and enjoy the samples!
The remainder of the day will be at leisure in this most historic city. Meander the Shambles, admire the glorious Minster, or perhaps relax in one of the popular tearooms and watch the world go by.
Enjoy a wonderfully nostalgic ride aboard the lovingly restored carriages of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, taking you through the spectacular scenery of the North York Moors. Our journey takes us to Whitby – one of the most popular spots on the Yorkshire Coast.
You will have some free time to explore this harbour town; browse the shops, take a stroll around the Old Town or take the famous 199 steps up to the dramatic ruins of the abbey – you’ll be rewarded with glorious coastal views!
Whitby is home to some of the best seafood to be found in the country, and we'll enjoy a fish and chips supper before returning to the hotel.
