Twixmas in Portpatrick

The presents are unwrapped and the turkey has been eaten, but that doesn’t mean the festive spirit doesn’t live on! Enjoy the period in between Christmas and New Year, known as Twixmas in Portpatrick, an attractive village wrapped around a picturesque harbour on the coast of Gallorway.

4 Day Itinerary

  • Day 1:

    Local departure by coach, then on to Portpatrick and our hotel for three nights.

  • Day 2: Ayrshire Coast and Ayr

    Today we travel along the Ayrshire Coast to reach Ayr in the heart of Robert Burns country. As the National Poet, he is widely regarded and celebrated throughout Scotland and nowhere is that more apparent than in Ayr, his birthplace. Ayr also has excellent beaches for when the elusive Scottish sunshine appears, and has an excellent town centre for those less sunny days. Enjoy time at leisure to stroll down the esplanade or browse the shops.

  • Day 3: Day at leisure or Newton Stewart

    Relax in Portpatrick or join our optional excursion to Newton Stewart. The town was named after its founder, William Stewart, son of the Earl of Galloway. It thrived on its cotton and carpet industries and is now more famous for its salmon and trout fishing on the River Cree. There is an interesting museum as well as an array of shops, cafes and restaurants.

    We depart the hotel this morning and return home.
