Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then onto the Welsh Borders and Wrexham where we stay for four nights.
Today we visit the ancient market town of Llangollen, nestled within the beautiful Dee Valley and under the watchful gaze of Dinas Bran Castle. Here we enjoy a relaxing cruise along some of the canal which forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site by horse drawn barge - a wonderfully tranquil way to take in the flora and fauna of this route.
Discover the ancient walled city of Chester. From the medieval walls to the Roman Amphitheatre and the atmospheric Rows shopping galleries, the city has so much to offer. Here, we take to the waters of the River Dee and enjoy a cruise to take in the scenery and learn more from the informative commentary that tells the stories of this wonderful city.
The mighty Anderton Boat Lift is one of the 'Seven Wonders of the Waterways'. This marvel of Victorian engineering, lifting boats and barges 50 feet from the River Weaver to the Trent & Mersey Canal is a wonder to behold.
Return home.
