Today we visit the Lake District and the popular lakeside town of Bowness. Located between Waterhead and Lakeside on the shore of Lake Windermere, Bowness has a pleasant town centre and glorious setting, and is consequently one of the most visited towns in the Lake District. Enjoy time at leisure to admire the beautiful Victorian and Edwardian architecture, browse the local shops or relax and watch the boats sail by on the lake, the choice is yours!
Relax in Morecambe, or join our optional excursion to the nearby city of Lancaster. The word ‘Lancaster’ translates as ‘Roman fort on the River Lune’. This original structure eventually evolved into the castle that still stands in the centre of the city, with much of local history focusing around this single building. The Priory Church is next to the castle, and was founded in 1094 and extensively remodeled in the Middle Ages. There are also lots of restaurants, cafes and historic pubs.
