Itinerary

Day One: From home to Dublin area
We make our way to Holyhead for the ferry over to Ireland, going on to our overnight hotel. (D)

Day Two: Dublin area to Westport

After some time in Dublin this morning, we begin our travels westward, calling at the Rathcrogan Visitor Centre where we have a fascinating insight into one of the ‘Celtic Royal Sites of Ireland’ on our guided tour. We continue on to Westport where we stay for four nights at the delightful Westport Woods Hotel. (B,D)

Day Three: Achill Island & Westport House

Today we journey around scenic Clew Bay and across the Corraun Peninsula and Achill Sound to reach Achill Island. Later we visit Westport House, which has been referred to as the most beautiful historic house in Ireland. (B,D)

Day Four: A day at leisure in Westport

A day to explore the heritage town of Westport Tonight our hotel hosts an Irish night with traditional music and dancing. (B,D)

Day Five: Kylemore Abbey and Connemara

We call at stunning Kylemore Abbey, an extraordinary abbey in a beautiful setting overlooking Kylemore Lake, and have the chance to explore the abbey, gothic church, walled gardens and pleasant walks. We continue into the beautiful Connemara National Park. (B,D)

Day Six: Westport to Dublin area

We depart Westport and call in at the medieval city of Galway. Known as ‘The City of the Tribes’, Galway is a lively and picturesque city set at the mouth of Galway Bay. We then continue across country to the Dublin area where we stay for our final night. (B,D)

Day Seven: Dublin area to home

We depart this morning and make our way home. (B)

Westport Woods Hotel And Spa

The Westport Woods is a friendly, cosy hotel set in private mature woodland overlooking Westport House Lake. Facilities include an indoor swimming pool, hot tub, spa and wellness centre.

Full day Achill Island And Westport House

We journey around Clew Bay and across the Corraun Peninsula and Achill Sound to visit tranquil Achill Island. We return to Westport and visit Westport House, which enjoys a superb parkland setting with lakes and wonderful gardens overlooking Croagh Patrick, Ireland’s holy mountain.

Full day Kylemore Abbey And Connemara National Park

We visit stunning Kylemore Abbey, in a beautiful setting overlooking Kylemore Lake. Here there is the chance to explore the abbey, Gothic church and walled gardens, and also to enjoy pleasant walks. We continue into the beautiful Connemara National Park, an area of nearly 5,000 acres of scenic countryside.
