Relax in beautiful Weymouth and explore some of Dorset’s highlights with us as we take in delightful towns and villages.
Day One - Home to Weymouth
We’ll make our way from the interchange to Weymouth, where we’ll check in to the Bay Royal Hotel and will enjoy an evening meal. (D)
Days Two to Seven - Weymouth
We’ll have a great time, with included excursions taking us to Sherborne, Lawrence of Arabia Country, Swanage, and West Bay. (B,D)
Day Eight - Weymouth to Home
Time to say goodbye today; we depart after breakfast and make our way to the interchange before returning home. (B)
Royal Weymouth Hotel
The Royal Hotel commands an unrivaled position right on Weymouth’s seafront with the town’s beach just across the promenade and a wealth of shops, boutique cafes and bars and quality restaurants just a short walk away.
Weymouth has a number of great attractions with Nothe Fort an easy walk from the hotel which has various exhibitions on a variety of subjects throughout the year. Or take the bus to the Isle of Portland which has a historic castle and lighthouse and is generally a lovely place to spend a day on its trails which offer great views.
Weymouth’s main train station is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the hotel and by car and train the surrounding landscape is fantastic to explore. The Jurassic Coast is a short journey away as is the New Forest, both of which offer fantastic wildlife and landscapes with stunning golden beaches and fantastic moorland respectively.
The hotel’s restaurant and bar offer great views of the promenade and are a great place for people watching while enjoying our chef’s wide and varied menus at breakfast and for an evening meal. Choose to enjoy an upgrade to superior and premier rooms for even greater comfort and space as well as fantastic sea views during your stay.
Full day: Lawrence of Arabia country and Swanage
Enjoy a tour journeying through some of the local villages and places of interested associated with Lawrence of Arabia and visiting seaside Swanage.
Full Day: Sherborne and Sherborne Castle
We visit Sherborne, with a number of medieval buildings, a beautiful abbey and two castles; it is one of the most beautiful towns in England. We will visit the newer of the two castles, which still dates back to 1594 and is set on the banks of beautiful Sherbourne Lake. While here we will be able to explore the house’s magnificent staterooms, important collections of art, furniture and porcelain and the stunning gardens and magnificent walks.
Half Day: West Bay
Visit the harbour village of West Bay, a beautifully situated town on the Jurassic Coast. Between two cliffs, the town has a stunning white sand beach which is a great place to go crab fishing, swim or simply relax and take in the sunshine. The town has become more recognisable recently as it was featured in popular television drama, Broadchurch.
