On this tour we will stay in the traditional seaside resort of Weymouth and enjoy an excursion to the Isle of Purbeck and Bournemouth.
Day One: Home to Weymouth
We’ll make our way from the interchange to Weymouth, where we’ll check in to the Bay Royal Hotel and will enjoy an evening meal. (D)
Days Two to Three: Weymouth
One of our days in Weymouth will included an excursion out to the Isle of Purbeck and Bournemouth. The Isle of Purbeck is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is dominated by the ancient Corfe Castle, which was one of the first to be built of stone in the country. Bournemouth, despite now being a large town, retains its charm at its seafront and its wonderful long beach includes exclusive areas such as Sandbanks. (B,D)
Day Four: Weymouth to Home
Time to say goodbye today; we depart after breakfast and make our way to the interchange before returning home. (B)
Royal Weymouth Hotel
The Royal Hotel commands an unrivaled position right on Weymouth’s seafront with the town’s beach just across the promenade and a wealth of shops, boutique cafes and bars and quality restaurants just a short walk away.
Weymouth has a number of great attractions with Nothe Fort an easy walk from the hotel which has various exhibitions on a variety of subjects throughout the year. Or take the bus to the Isle of Portland which has a historic castle and lighthouse and is generally a lovely place to spend a day on its trails which offer great views.
Weymouth’s main train station is just a couple of minutes’ walk from the hotel and by car and train the surrounding landscape is fantastic to explore. The Jurassic Coast is a short journey away as is the New Forest, both of which offer fantastic wildlife and landscapes with stunning golden beaches and fantastic moorland respectively.
The hotel’s restaurant and bar offer great views of the promenade and are a great place for people watching while enjoying our chef’s wide and varied menus at breakfast and for an evening meal. Choose to enjoy an upgrade to superior and premier rooms for even greater comfort and space as well as fantastic sea views during your stay.
Trip to the Isle of Purbeck And Bournemouth
Today we enjoy an excursion to the Isle of Purbeck, which includes the resort of Swanage and features a pier which offers panoramic views of the bay. Ancient Corfe Castle, the ruins of which stand high above the village of the same name gives great views of the surrounding countryside and is certainly a highlight. We then move onto the long sandy beaches of Bournemouth, with its lively town centre and plenty of seaside attractions, you won’t be stuck for things to do.
