Explore the stunning Venetian Riviera and captivating Istrian Coast with just one holiday, staying in Lido de Jesolo and Opatija. Take in some of Italy and Croatia’s best sights, including cultural Venice, and historical Pula and Rovinj, as well as enjoying time at leisure in these magnificent destinations.
Known for its miles of soft golden sands, Lido di Jesolo’s views of the azure Adriatic Sea are truly breath-taking. Guests will find this Venetian coastal town’s flat landscape ideal, allowing for easy exploration of its many shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, colourful piazzas and nightlife.
Opatija can be found on Croatia’s Istrian coast, and is famous for its beautiful belle époque architecture, enchanting location, and excellent climate. Admire the sparkling Adriatic, stroll along the picturesque promenade, and discover its many sights.
During our holiday, we’ll visit Venice, with its intricate network of canals and cultural highlights. See Doge's Palace, the Clock Tower, the Basilica di San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs, and the Rialto Bridge.
As well as this, we’ll spend time in the ancient Croatian towns of Pula and Rovinj. Istria’s largest city, Pula’s history stretches back to ancient times, and its Roman Arena, Temple of Roma and Augustus, and Arch of Sergii are must-see sights. Rovinj’s colourful harbour is perfect for enjoying a relaxing walk, and its Old Town is filled with beautiful architecture.
Day One: UK to France
From the UK, we’ll travel via Calais to Northern France for an overnight stay.
Day Two: France to Northern Italy
Continuing our journey, travel to our overnight hotel in northern Italy in time for dinner. (B,D)
Day Three: Northern Italy to Lido di Jesolo
After breakfast, we’ll depart for Lido di Jesolo, travelling via beautiful Verona. Famous for its connections with Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, admire Verona’s Roman architecture during our time here. We’ll stay in Lido di Jesolo for the next three nights and will enjoy an evening meal tonight. (B,D)
Day Four: Lido di Jesolo
Spend today at leisure exploring Lido di Jesolo - why not visit the beach, make your way into the town centre, or join our optional excursion? (B,D)
Day Five: Lido di Jesolo
Today we’ll enjoy an included excursion to Venice, known for its intricate network of canals, including the spectacular Grand Canal, and for its culture and history. Admire centuries of beautiful architecture and landmarks, including Doge's Palace, the Basilica di San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs, and the Rialto Bridge. (B,D)
Day Six: Lido di Jesolo to Opatija
Time to say goodbye to Lido di Jesolo today and continue our journey to Opatija. We’ll travel via the charmingly-named Portoroz (Port of Roses), thought to be one of Slovenia’s most scenic coastal towns. Admire its picturesque setting and its many cultural sights. Onwards then to Opatija, where we’ll stay for the next four nights. (B,D)
Day Seven: Opatija
We’ll have the day to acquaint ourselves with Opatija. Take in the town’s elegant villas, and its combination of mountains and sea, which contrast beautifully. Opatija’s promenade, the Lungomare, admire the belle epoque architecture and see many statues along the way, including the now-iconic ‘Girl with the Seagull’. (B,D)
Day Eight: Opatija
Our included excursion today will take us to two of Croatia’s most historical destinations - Pula and Rovinj. Both date from ancient times, with numerous Roman monuments and stunning architecture to take in. In Pula, see the beautifully-preserved Roman Arena, while Rovinj’s picturesque harbour is a must-see. Day Nine: Opatija
Another day at leisure to spend as we wish - relax at the hotel, spend time exploring the town, or perhaps consider joining our optional excursion to Krk island. (B,D)
Day Ten: Opatija to Germany
Our holiday will begin to draw to a close today, as we travel from Opatija to southern Germany for an overnight stay. (B,D)
Day Eleven: Germany to France
We’ll continue to our overnight hotel in France today, arriving in time for our evening meal. (B,D)
Day Twelve: France to UK
Retracing our steps, we’ll continue to the UK, via Calais. (B)
This modern hotel occupies a prime position on the lively Piazza Mazzini in the heart of Lido de Jesolo. It boasts a private beach and a rooftop swimming pool as well as a fantastic restaurant.

En Route: Portoroz
Explore Portoroz (Port of Roses) with an en route visit, admiring this charming town. Portoroz is known for its spectacular coastline - enjoy a stroll along its beaches, visit on of the coastal bars or cafes, or visit one of the town’s three casinos.
En Route: Verona
Spend time exploring fair Verona, one of Italy’s most famous cities thanks to its connections with Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet is still synonymous with the city, as well as boasting magnificent Roman architecture. See the famous House of Juliet, the San Zeno Maggiore Church, and the beautiful Roman Arena.
Full Day: Pula and Rovinj
Discover the west side of the Istrian Peninsula as we visit the popular town of Pula. One of the many jewels in Istria’s crown, Pula is the largest city on the peninsula and is known for its beautiful sea views and unspoilt scenery. The city has a wealth of history within its walls, as it was brought to life during Roman times, with many Roman buildings and features still existing today.
From Pula, we’ll continue to charming Rovinj, with its pretty pastel coloured houses clustered along the winding streets, overlooked by the Venetian style bell tower. The historic centre is completely contained within the oval peninsula and the town and harbour are a delight to explore.
Rovinj is home to a wide range of attractions, including St. Euphemia's Basilica and the Rovinj Town Museum, and it’s also the ideal place to wander through the streets and enjoy the bustling atmosphere of the town.
Full Day: Venice
For an entire day, we’ll explore the beautiful city of Venice, where we’ll find amazing architecture, fascinating history and vibrant culture. Venice is one of the most interesting cities in the world, with its winding canals and reputation for being the birthplace (and adopted home) of many amazing musicians.
Today, Venice is an extraordinary city with much to discover, from museums to art galleries, monuments to bridges, and everything in between. Some of the most famous places we’ll be able to visit at leisure while in the city include Ca' d'Oro, the Doge's Palace and the Clock Tower, as well as the Museum of Natural History and the Venice Academy Gallery. There’s also the Basilica di San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs, Rialto Bridge and the famous Grand Canal.
Full Day: Krk Island and Wine Tasting
Journey across Krk Bridge for our island adventure, with Krk Island being the largest in the Adriatic Sea. The island has an amazing history, having been inhabited since Neolithic times.
We’ll call at Vrbnik, a small Croatian town with beautiful views over the channel. The town is known for its excellent vineyards, and while we’re there we’ll get the chance to sample local cheese, ham and wine, before continuing to Krk. Enjoy time to explore the area at leisure, where the sights in the main town include the Roman ruins, cathedral and town towers.
We’ll take a trip to Padua, one of Italy’s most beautiful and architecturally important cities. The setting for Shakespeare’s play The Taming of the Shrew, Padua is filled with wonderful historical sights and stunning scenery. With medieval architecture, a lively and modern atmosphere, and an incredibly intriguing history, this city is filled with things to see and do.
Venice Gondola Ride
Experience Venice from its famous canals as we take an optional gondola ride. See the beautiful architecture, while travelling along these busy waterways and enjoying the pleasant atmosphere. Venice is well-known for its canals, which connect this floating city, and our optional excursion will give us a chance to admire one of Italy’s most beautiful cities from a different perspective.
Verona Guided Walking Tour
While we’re in Verona, we’ll be able to enjoy an excellent guided walking tour of the city to find out more about its past, and to see its best sights. With an expert guide, we’ll explore more of this wonderful location and will learn all about its heritage.
