    • The Hotel was originally called the Riggs Windermere Hotel, named after Thomas Rigg, who built it in 1847
    • A recent refurbishment to the bar and restaurant has left us with a modern look, but the hotel keeps its charm

    • Significant refurbishment was undertaken in 2017, with upgrades to many bedrooms and the opening of the new Orrest Head Lodge & Restaurant.

    We’ll visit the attractive market town of Kendal today, famous for its delicious mint cake. We’ll be able to visit the bustling town centre to enjoy some shopping, before continuing on to pretty Bowness on the shores of Lake Windermere. Here, we can enjoy the lovely views over the lake and can also pick up some souvenirs from the high street.
