Full Day: Amsterdam
As Holland’s capital city, Amsterdam is guaranteed to be a fantastic place to visit during our New Year break. The city is famous for its expansive canal system and many bridged islands, for which it’s earned the name ‘Venice of the North’. This bustling city will be a highlight on our holiday, as it is absolutely packed with things to do.
The Museum Square, or ‘Museumplein’, is home to some of the most significant museums in the city, such as the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, and Stedelijk Museum. All three are well worth touring in our spare time in the city, and there’s also the Anne Frank House and the Civic Guards Gallery, as well as many other exhibits and sights.
Full Day: Antwerp
Antwerp, with its attractive architecture and excellent history is a fantastic place to visit, and we’re sure to enjoy our day spent there. We’ll be able to look forward to everything from shopping to visiting attractions, and there’ll be time to enjoy lunch at one of the many cafes or restaurants in the city as well.
There are a number of ‘must-see’ sights in the city, such as the Cathedral of Our Lady, Rubens House, the Museum aan de Stroom (MAS) and the Museum Plantin-Moretus. We’ll be able to tour some of these attractions during our stay in the city, and will also be able to wander through the streets admiring the pretty architecture.
Half Day: Dutch Polders
We’ll make our way to the Dutch Polders today to discover Kinderdijk, famous for the 19 wonderfully-preserved windmills here. Kinderdijk is a little village in the Netherlands with historical windmills that were built between 1738 and 1740 as a drainage system. Today, the windmills are a UNESCO World Hesitate Site and are certainly an astonishing sight.
Half Day: Scheveningen
Today we enjoy a half day included excursion to the coastal resort of Scheveningen with its cosy boulevard, casino, museums and a renowned pier. Seen as a seaside resort, Scheveningen is the ideal place to relax in, while also enjoying the town’s attractions, which include some small - but no less interesting - museums.
See Amsterdam from a different perspective on this 75 minute cruise around the famous canals. English commentary is provided as we cruise around the sites and attractions of Amsterdam and it will also give us a chance to learn more about the city’s history.
Amsterdam Guided City Tour
This city of Amsterdam is transformed with an array of twinkling lights by night, as the city is illuminated along the canals and with the bright lights of the buildings. There’s nothing better than seeing a city come to life, and this is when we’ll really see this happen in Amsterdam. Come with us on an optional excursion as we explore Amsterdam by night.
Half Day: Ghent
Comprising a mixture of French and Flemish cultures, Ghent is often referred to as the historic heart of Flanders and is certainly filled with wonderful things to do. This charming destination is home to a number of attractions, such as the Graslei port and Saint Bavo Cathedral. It too has a historic belfry which we’ll be able to visit while we’re there, as well as enjoying a spot of shopping or trying out one of the many cafes or restaurants in the city.
