Worlitz Gardens was one of the very first English garden to be created in Germany, and was one of the largest to be constructed in the whole of continental Europe in the 18th century.

Created under the instruction of Duke Leopold III of Anhalt-Dessau, who was inspired by the gardens of Europe, the gardens were crafted by architect Friedrich Wilhelm von Erdmannsdorff. We’ll have time to explore these beautiful gardens, and will then take a guided walking tour to learn more about the gardens.

We’ll visit Wartburg Castle for a short while during our holiday, and will have time to explore this interesting castle. Built in the Middle Ages, Wartburg Castle overlooks the town of Eisenach and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This iconic castle provided inspiration for Ludwig II, who then went on to construct the fantastic Neuschwanstein Castle.

The city of Weimar is a cultural highlight, with its wonderful history of German Enlightenment and the vast number of famous intellectuals who have lived here at one time or another. These include Goethe, Nietzsche and Kandinsky.

We’ll spend time exploring this fascinating city to admire its excellent cityscape, filled with eclectic mix of architectural styles, and its amazing museums, art galleries and other attractions.

During our time in Weimar, we’ll be treated to an excellent guided walking tour of the city, so we can learn more about its interesting history. Weimar was the centre of the German Enlightenment movement, which led to an increased interest in music, philosophy, science and literature. We’ll be led through Weimar to see its best sights, and to discover more about its heritage.

No visit to Worlitz Gardens is complete without a gondola ride, as the lake here is one of the main features of this captivating park. We’ll enjoy a pleasant gondola ride to see this superb English park in Germany from a different perspective, and to enjoy its many sights and sounds.
