Day One - UK to France
We travel to France, via Calais, for an overnight stay.
Day Two - France to Tiefencastel
After breakfast, we continue down into Switzerland, arriving at the welcoming Albula & Julier Hotel in Tiefencastel, at the heart of the Swiss Alps, where we stay for three nights. (B,D)
Day Three - Tiefencastel
Take in the surrounding mountain views with our full day excursion today, as we explore the glorious Graubunden region. Passing through national park scenery, with dramatic gorges, majestic mountain peaks and beautifully preserved townscapes, we’ll call at popular Davos and Klosters. (B,D)
Day Four - Tiefencastel
Spend the day relaxing in Tiefencastel today, as we enjoy time at leisure to discover this charming town. Or why not join our optional journey on the Bernina Express ? (B,D)
Day Five - Tiefencastel to Leissigen
We enjoy a highlight of our holiday, a journey on the spectacular Glacier Express. We travel from Tiefencastel to Andermatt - relax and enjoy the unspoilt views of the glacier carved valleys and snow-capped mountains, through the amazing panoramic carriages on board. Upon arrival in Andermatt, we continue by coach to the lovely Kreuz Hotel in Leissigen for a four-night stay, calling at pretty Brienz en route. (B,D)
Day Six - Leissigen
Why not join an optional excursion today, travelling by train to take in the wonderful scenery of the Jungfrau mountain. (B,D)
Day Seven - Leissigen
Discover the beautiful towns of Grindelwald, Interlaken and Thun today. After calling at pretty Grindelwald, we make our way to Interlaken, which enjoys a unique location set between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, as well as being the heart of the magnificent Jungfrau region. We continue to Thun, famous for its castle, which looms over the town, and for its charming Old Town and bustling town squares. (B,D)
Day Eight - Leissigen
Enjoy another day at leisure - why not further explore Leissigen to see its many sights or join an optional trip on the Golden Pass Railway to Montreux? (B,D)
Day Nine - Leissigen to France
We depart Leissigen today, travelling to France and spending the night at a comfortable hotel. (B,D)
Day Ten - France to UK
Time to return home today, as we travel back to the UK via Calais. (B)
Hotel Albula And Julier
This hotel is ideally located in the village of Tiefencastel, at the entrance to the Valley of the Grisons. Accommodation is in two adjacent buildings 'Albula' and 'Julier'.

Full Day: Grindelwald, Interlaken and Thun
We’ll call at the charming village of Grindelwald today, before going on to Interlaken, known for its enchanting views of the Jungfrau, which makes the most incredible backdrop. Interlaken is located between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, ensuring wonderful lakeside views are available, and it’s home to a number of historical sights, including the Interlaken Monastery & Castle, which features gothic architecture and has a chapel dating from 1452.
After our time in Interlaken, we’ll make our way to Thun, located at the lower end of Lake Thun, the gateway to the Bernese Oberland. The historical Old Town is home to the 12th-century castle that hosts a museum and the city is filled with wonderful sights, which we can take in during our time here.
We enjoy a very special railway journey through spectacular Swiss scenery as we take the world-famous Glacier Express railway from Tiefencastel to Andermatt. We then call at Brienz, a picturesque Swiss village, where we enjoy time to explore before heading on to Leissigen.
Full Day: Glorious Graubunden
Join us as we explore the glorious Graunbunden region, calling at Davos and Klosters, two charming towns with captivating Swiss scenery. In Davos, we’ll enjoy free time to explore the local area and visit some of the attractions there, such as the Kirchner Museum, which houses a popular art gallery, as well as visiting the Spielzeugmuseum toy museum and the Bergbaumeuseum mining museum.
Next, we’ll head to Klosters, which lies close to Zurich and is regularly visited by the British Royal Family. It’s a pleasant town with remarkable scenery, including green pastures and rolling, snowy mountaintops. The Reformierte Kirche am Platz is a Swiss heritage site of national significance and is well worth visiting while enjoying free time in the town.
Bernina Express to Poschiavo
The Bernina Express is the crowning glory of our holiday in Switzerland, and it’ll allow us to enjoy even more of the country’s stunning scenery. We’ll travel from Tiefencastel to Poschiavo, enjoying the panoramic views our train will afford.
The journey will take us through the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes. Providing fantastic views and passing through many small towns and villages, we’ll be able to marvel at the natural landscape. We’ll undoubtedly see some of the best views available in Switzerland and will be treated to a classic mix of alpine scenery, including snow-capped mountains, green rolling hills and densely forested areas.
This railway is absolutely unique in that it’s the highest in Europe. With breath-taking scenery and excellent service, this is sure to make our holiday in Switzerland all the more interesting.
Full Day: Golden Pass to Montreux
Why not join an unforgettable journey today as we take the famous Golden Pass Railway, travelling to the beautiful lakeside city of Montreux and enjoying the spectacular views during our leisurely train journey. Sit back and relax as we travel along this magnificent railway, passing stunning Swiss scenery along our way.
