Today we arrive in New York for a break filled with famous sights, fantastic food and captivating locals. We will check into our hotel, The Sheraton New York Times Square, in the very heart of the city.

Day Two
After breakfast at a restaurant near our hotel, we will embrace the city with a locally guided tour. We will take in sights including, fashionable Greenwich Village and Central Park and then Wall Street business district and Chinatown. Staying in Lower Manhattan we will visit St Paul’s Chapel, where George Washington worshipped while living in New York, we will then visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. The exhibition is a poignant chance to reflect on what happened here and the lives that were lost.

Into the evening you have a choice from a selection of restaurants close to our hotel. After that we will be rounding off a great first day with a Broadway show! (B,D)

Day Three
Today we begin with a fun filled breakfast at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, famous across the city for its singing waiting staff. Our first activity today is to board a ferry for a cruise of New York Harbour. The trip will give you fantastic views of the Statue of Liberty and of Lower Manhattan. We travel to Ellis Island, which is most famous as the entrance point for millions of immigrants to America in the early 20th century. The visitor centre tells the fascinating stories of some of those millions, both before, during and after their times on the island.

The rest of the day is for you to enjoy the city at your leisure. In the evening we have a walking tour of Greenwich Village which includes dinner available as an optional extra. Otherwise try one of the city’s thousands of fine eateries. (B)

Day Four
After breakfast at a restaurant near our hotel you have a chance to explore the city at your leisure. Fancy a shopping spree? Well the city has some legendary department stores including Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s. Or perhaps you want some great photos to show to friends and family when you get home? Head to Rockefeller Centre and go to The Top of the Rock for unbeatable views over Central Park, The Empire State Building and down to One World Trade Centre and The Statue of Liberty. In the afternoon you’ll enjoy a second Broadway show of your choice and then enjoy your final taste of New York as we gather for dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)

New York Harbour Cruise, Statue Of Liberty and Ellis Island

We take a cruise across New York Harbour. The trip will offer fantastic views, both looking back to Manhattan, across to the Brooklyn Bridge and of The Statue of Liberty. The statue was a gift to the USA from France, to commemorate 100 years of independence and, being one of the first things many immigrants to the USA saw on arrival, came to symbolise the hope and freedom that their new home offered. You will have an opportunity here to get off the boat and get up close to the statue. We will then travel to where many of those immigrants first stepped on US soil, at Ellis Island. This place processed around 12 million immigrants in the late 18th and early 19th centuries and while here you will learn some of the journeys those people took to reach America.
