Itinerary

Day One - Home to Melrose
We’ll make our way from the interchange to Melrose, where we’ll check in to the Waverley Castle Hotel and will enjoy a sumptuous evening meal. (D)

Days Two to Four - Melrose
Spending three days in the Scottish Border region we will take two included excursions. We will take a trip to Edinburgh where you’ll have free time to enjoy the many attractions the city has to offer in any way you choose.

We’ll also go to Kelso, set at the junction of the rivers Teviot and Tweed, this is one of the most beautifully situated Border Towns. The other day in Melrose is free for you to enjoy at your leisure. The town has a number of attractions; Melrose Abbey and Abbotsford House are interesting visits and give a great insight into the history of the Border region, there are also fantastic walking opportunities in the nearby Eildon hills. (B,D)

Day Five - Melrose to Home
Time to say goodbye today; we depart after breakfast and make our way to the interchange before returning home. (B)

With the town being at the heart of an area of gentle hills, undulating valleys and Border Abbeys, this is an ideal place for people looking to spend time outdoors.

Looking a little further afield the fantastic cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle are all within easy reach. All three cities have a fascinating history to discover and stunning architecture to enjoy, each providing its own particular culture. For some ancient history head to the border with England and discover the Roman era ruins that surround Hadrian’s Wall which also enjoys stunning views over Northumberland National Park.

The Waverley Castle Hotel is splendidly set in 5 acres of rolling parkland behind which flows the River Tweed. Spend time in the comfortable lounges and bar, enjoy various games, stroll around the grounds and dance the nights away in the entertainment room.

We travel through picturesque Border Country to the quiet country town of Peebles, sitting in a beautiful valley of the River Tweed, going on to visit the quaint Victorian spa town of Moffat.
