Itinerary

Monday                              
We travel via the interchange to Grange-over-Sands where following check in we will enjoy an evening meal (D)

 

Tuesday to Thursday        
We spend the next three days in and around Grange-over-Sands and the Lake District, during which time we will enjoy three fantastic included excursions. We take a ride on Lakeside and Haverthwaite railway to the town of Bowness on the banks of Lake Windermere where we will have free time to explore the quaint shops, pubs and cafes or simply take in the fabulous views.

 

We also travel on the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway. Travelling from Ravenglass, the only coastal village in the Lake District to Boot at the heart of the area we will see fantastic peaks and crystal clear lakes.

 

Our final excursion is to the town of Kendal, a beautiful town which is one of the largest around the lakes. We will have time here to explore the fashionable boutiques and wonderful eateries here and see sights including Kendal Castle and a number of galleries in town.

 

In free time you can explore Grange-over-Sands which is a lovely town to explore on foot with its pretty esplanade and the relaxing Park Road Gardens which are a great place to sit and enjoy the views over Morecambe Bay. (B,D)

 

Friday                                   
After breakfast we depart and travel home via the interchange (B)

 

KENDAL
We take a trip to the town of Kendal, one of the largest towns around the lakes which retains its perfect riverside charm. You will have time to explore the pretty town and its castle and galleries in the centre. Or take some time to see the shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants in this quaint, picture postcard area of the country.

Cumbria Grand Hotel

Built on 1880, the Cumbria Grand is set in 20 acres of private gardens overlooking Morecambe Bay, only a short drive from Lake Windermere

Full Day: Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway

Excursion joining the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway before taking to the water and cruising to Bowness where there will be free time to explore this pretty village, located on the shores of magnificent Lake Windermere.

Full Day: Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway

We travel along the southern edges of the Lake District to arrive at Ravenglass - the only coastal village in the Lake District. From here we join the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway taking a return trip through the rugged Cumbrian scenery of the Eskdale Valley to reach Boot, at the very heart of the Lake District.
