The Local Area

Included Excursions

Full Day: Plymouth and Harbour Cruise

We’ll enjoy an excursion across the wild landscape of Dartmoor as we journey towards Plymouth. The area is perhaps most famous now as the place where the Pilgrim Fathers embarked onto the Mayflower before crossing the Atlantic to North America, the Mayflower steps mark the spot where they last left British soil. Here we will take a cruise around the natural harbour of Plymouth Sound, which is known as one of the most beautiful in the world to discover the city from a new perspective.

Full Day: Buckfast Abbey and Totnes

We enjoy an excursion to Buckfast Abbey, set in a quiet wooded valley at the edge of Dartmoor National Park. See the magnificent Abbey church and tranquil grounds, with immaculate lawns and fine stone buildings. We continue to the charming riverside town of Totnes with its castle ruins and many interesting buildings. We will also call at Trago Mills where you will be able to pick up a bargain for your home or garden.

Half Day: Bygones and Babbacombe

We take a short trip to the seaside village to St Marychurch, where we visit fascinating 'Bygones' and take a nostalgic journey to Victorian times along the period street and gain an insight into wartime Britain. We call at the beautiful seaside town of Babbacombe on the way back to the hotel.
