Treat yourself to a very special Christmas this year, celebrating in style on a relaxing break to Belgium. Stay with us at the Hotel Ostend, celebrating with a festive Christmas buffet dinner and enjoying inclusive drinks each evening, between 6.30pm to 8.30pm or 9pm. In addition to this, we’ll get the opportunity to explore further with our excellent included excursions.
Join us as we make our way to the magnificent city of Brussels, famous for its medieval Grand Place. Go shopping, or why not take in some of its many sights? Just a few of these include the splendid Cinquantenaire triumphal arch, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and the Palace of Justice.
On Christmas Eve, we’ll visit Bruges, known for its medieval architecture and elegant belfry. See Bruges’ beautiful attractions with time at leisure to explore today. On Christmas Day, we’ll celebrate at our hotel with our likeminded holidaymakers, before enjoying a scenic coastal drive to Sluis on Boxing Day.
Day One - UK to Ostend
We make our way from the UK, via Calais, to reach Ostend. Here, we stay at the Hotel Ostend for the next five nights. (D)
Day Two - Brussels
Enjoy an included excursion to the cosmopolitan city of Brussels. Why not join our optional guided city tour, before we return to our hotel for dinner this evening. (B,D)
Day Three - Bruges
Enjoy an excursion to the medieval town of Bruges, with its tree-lined canals and enchanting scenery. Why not join our optional walking tour to explore further? (B,D)
Day Four - Christmas Day
Celebrate this special day at our hotel today, with a fantastic Christmas buffet dinner this evening. (B,D)
Day Five - Sluis
Enjoy an included excursion to Sluis, as we take a coastal drive to this charming town in the Netherlands. Sit back, relax and allow us to show you the sights! Why not join our optional excursion to the town of Ypres this afternoon? (B,D)
Day Six - Ostend to UK
We travel back to Calais after breakfast, travelling via Calais, and then continue our journey home. (B)
Full Day: Bruges
Enjoy the exquisitely preserved medieval city of Bruges during this excursion. Charming Bruges is known for its winding cobbled streets, pretty gabled houses and attractive tree-lined canals, each crossed by a humpback bridge.
Full Day: Brussels
Explore Belgium’s beautiful capital city Brussels, where one of the must-see sights is the stunning Grand Place, considered to be one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. This central square in Brussels is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is absolutely stunning - the architecture is some of the best in the whole of the city.
There are a number of notable buildings surrounding the Grand Place, including the Town Hall, Guildhalls and the Museum of the City of Brussels. Of course, there are many other worthy attractions in Brussels, including the Cinquantenaire triumphal arch, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and the Palace of Justice. We’ll get to see some of these attractions while touring the city at leisure.
Half Day: Sluis and Coastal Drive
Well take a scenic coastal drive crossing just over the border into The Netherlands, visiting the small town of Sluis. Despite being a small town there is a wealth of history here, with the place itself being more than 700 years old. The town was one of the first to be captured by the Spanish, being held by them for almost 20 years before gaining freedom in the Eighty Years War, which ultimately led to the Netherlands regaining its independence. There is a pretty canal here which is a great place to relax and enjoy a drink from a local cafe.
Guided city tour of Brussels
Brussels is perhaps most famous for the Grand Place, the city’s main square which is surrounded by ornate medieval guildhalls. Our guided city tour of Brussels will show us the many other amazing attractions and sights here too, so we can enjoy this city to the fullest extent.
Guided walking tour of Bruges
While we’re in Bruges, we’ll be given the opportunity to enjoy a guided walking tour, which will help us to find out more about the city itself. We’ll also be taken past some of the city’s most famous attractions, which will allow us to learn more about their history and heritage, so that we can get a better understanding of this excellent location.
Half Day: Ypres
We'll take a trip to Ypres today to explore this incredibly historical town in Belgium. Ypres is home to a great many fascinating sights, such as the 13th century Cloth Hall and Saint Martin’s Cathedral, which features remarkable Gothic architecture.
During our time in Ypres, we’ll be able to tour these attractions at leisure, as well as enjoying walks through the town to see the local sights.
