Enjoy an amazing holiday to Ostend, staying at the Hotel Royal Astrid and making the most of a great stay. We’ll get to explore fantastic Ostend, as well as making our way to the festive markets in Lille, Brussels and Bruges to explore Belgium and nearby France.
We’ll begin our break with an exciting day out to nearby Lille in Northern France, where we’ll find a magical winter wonderland, complete with beautiful decorations and over 80 wooden chalet-style stalls to peruse. Father Christmas may even be there! This historical city comes to life at this time of year, and we’ll be able to buy Christmas presents and treat ourselves to some wonderful souvenirs.

The following morning we will have free time in Ostend to explore all the town has to offer. Later in the day, we’ll enjoy lunch in place of dinner before we head to Brussels, where we’ll find one of Belgium’s most spectacular Christmas markets. Held on the beautiful Grand Place square, there will be hundreds of stalls to explore, each selling a range of tasty treats and handcrafted items.

Our next excursion will take us to beautiful Bruges, famous for its medieval architecture, where we’ll get to spend time at the pretty Christmas market. Spend time discovering this charming city, enjoy some Christmas shopping and soak up the festive atmosphere here!

Day One: UK to Ostend
We’ll make our way from the UK to Ostend, via Calais, where we’ll stay at the Hotel Royal Astrid for the next four nights. (D)

Days Two to Four: Ostend 
We’ll enjoy a wonderful holiday, excursions to Lille, Brussels and Bruges, as well as free time in Ostend to make the most of. We’ll also enjoy a packed meal on one night in place of an evening meal at our hotel. (B,D*)

Day Five: Ostend to UK 
Time to say goodbye today; we depart Ostend and travel back to the UK via Calais.

Please note: We will have lunch instead of dinner on day three

The Royal Astrid Hotel in Ostend provides comfortable accommodation within easy reach of the shops, bars, harbour and parks. The cosy bar with fireplace is the perfect place to unwind with a drink in the evening.

Full Day Brussels Christmas Market

Situated on the Place St. Catherine, Brussel's Christmas Market offers an array of products in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Enjoy a ride on the ferris wheel or stroll through the markets picking up some festive souvenirs.


Full Day: Bruges Christmas Market

Bruges becomes the ultimate Christmas destination in the winter months, when a light dusting of snow and the city’s cobbled streets transform it into a beautifully quaint location. Enjoy some Christmas shopping at the fantastic Bruges Christmas Market, with its fairy-tale winter chalets, sparkling lights and festive decor making it a charming option.

We’ll be able to buy everything from traditional toys for children to handmade jewellery and delicious chocolate treats, and there will also be an assortment of hot beverages to warm ourselves with. Afterwards, consider going ice skating on the rink, or take a horse and cart ride at leisure.


Lille Christmas Market

Lille's elegant medieval centre fully embraces the Christmas spirit. Traditionally held at Place Rihour it is adourned with decorations, colourful lights and market stalls. In the main square a huge ferris wheel is erected giving visitors a chance to view Lille in all it's festive glory.


Optional Excursions

Bruges Guided Walking Tour

Bruges is a fascinating city, and we’ll be able to enjoy a guided walking tour of the city while we’re there. This will provide us with more information about the city, as well as showing us some of the most famous attractions and landmarks.


Brussels Guided Coach Tour

Brussels, the capital city of Belgium, is an excellent city filled with stunning scenery and architecture and, while visiting to see the Brussels Christmas Market, we’ll be given the option of enjoying a guided coach tour.

This will take us past some of the many well-known attractions in the city, such as its historic centre, the Gothic town hall and the beautiful Museum of the City of Brussels. These, as well as many other attractions, will be the talking point for the tour, which will guide us through the city’s history.


Half Day: Sluis

Visit the quaint Dutch town of Sluis on an optional excursion. Just over the border in the Netherlands Sluis has an attractive Gothic belfry and stone mill.
