The North York Moors feature some of the UK’s most spectacular landscape, and we’ll be able to step back in time as we admire this stunning scenery from the comfort of the beautifully restored carriages on-board the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This incredible steam train will take us through the wonderful countryside and will give us an experience like no other.
This superb holiday will allow us to enjoy all the North York Moors has to offer, as we discover the magnificent natural beauty here. We’ll stay at the Royal Hotel in Whitby, and so will be ideally placed. After our journey on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, we’ll visit Eden Camp - a fantastic museum dedicated to providing more information about military and civilian life during World War II.

Our second excursion will take us to Scarborough, the famous colourful seaside resort with lots to see and do. From enjoying the beaches here, to admiring the 11th-century ruins of Scarborough Castle, we’re sure to have a fantastic time.

Itinerary

Day One - Home to Whitby
On the first day of our holiday, we’ll make our way from the interchange to the Royal Hotel in Whitby, where we’ll enjoy a delicious evening meal upon arrival. (D)

Days Two to Four - Whitby
Over the next three days, we’ll take two exciting excursions. First, we’ll take a ride on the historic North Yorkshire Moors Railway and will then visit the Eden Camp museum. After this, we’ll enjoy a trip to Scarborough. (B,D)

Day Five - Whitby to Home
We’ll say goodbye to Whitby today, as we travel back to the interchange and then continue home. (B)

Whitby is undoubtedly one of the finest seaside resorts in the entire country and you can stay close to the beautiful town centre with us at the Royal Hotel.

With its pretty harbour and quaint riverside buildings, Whitby is the kind of town you could spend your whole holiday simply wandering around and enjoying the fantastic atmosphere. There is a huge amount to do in Whitby including visiting Whitby Abbey and discovering the town’s history - it is the birthplace of Captain Cook and setting of Dracula.

Travel just outside of town and you will be in the stunning North Yorkshire Moors. Take a train into the heart of this region or hop on the bus and take in ‘Britain’s most scenic bus route’.

In the hotel you can enjoy tasty breakfast, midday and evening meals before enjoy an after meal drink in the scenic bar and lounge. You can also experience fantastic evening entertainment in the hotel’s modern ballroom.

Enjoy a journey aboard the lovingly restored carriages of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway before continuing on to take a trip down memory lane at the Eden Camp, a multi-award winning attraction telling the story of civilian life during World War II.

Half Day: Scarborough

We’ll enjoy an excursion to Scarborough - beneath the resort’s prominent headland, there thrives a colourful fishing community and sophisticated holiday resort. There’s a lot to do here, as we can go shopping in the town centre for souvenirs, or we could take in the excellent views by the seafront.
