Stay with us at the George Hotel in Chollerford for a great way to see in the New Year in style, with fantastic inclusions to really get the party started. Day One – Home to Chollerford
We’ll make our way from the interchange to Chollerford, where we’ll check in to The George and enjoy an evening meal. (D)
Days Two – Three– in and around Chollerford
We spend the next two days in the beautiful Northumbria countryside in the quaint village of Chollerford on the edge of Northumberland National Park. During our stay we will take an included excursion to discover one of the very best cities the North East has to offer.
We take a trip to historic Durham, with its ancient skyline, dominated by a stunning cathedral and castle which make up its UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You'll have plenty of free time to enjoy the area around the hotel, the countryside here is notable for a number of ancient ruins and the scenery of the countryside. (B,D)
Day Four– Chollerford to Home
Time to say goodbye today; we depart after breakfast and make our way to the interchange before returning home. (B)
Whether you want to walk in the countryside, visit cosmopolitan Newcastle, go fishing in the River Tyne or simply relax in the recently refurbished leisure club, The George Hotel is an ideal base for a Northumberland holiday.
The hotel is a short walk away from Chesters Roman Fort and Museum and just a few miles away from other historic sites associated with Hadrian’s Wall. Take advantage of the opportunity to go fishing in the River Tyne with the hiring of equipment possible from the hotel.
There’s also the opportunity to discover fantastic countryside and astounding scenery on one of the many fantastic trails into Northumberland National Park. Otherwise take in the history, beautiful architecture and great shopping and entertainment of Newcastle, just over half an hour’s drive away or just over an hour by public transport.
The hotel has a wonderful modern restaurant with a tasty menu that varies daily as well as a tranquil lounge and bar, perfect for an after dinner drink. If you feel like unwinding after a long day exploring the many local attractions then visit the hotel’s leisure club where you can swim in the pool or relax in the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.
