Treat yourself to a very special Christmas this year, celebrating in style on a relaxing break to France. Staying in Neuville-en-Ferrain, we’ll have three excursions to look forward to, with a battlefields tour, a trip to beautiful Bruges and time spent in lovely Lille, as well as delicious food and exciting celebrations to be had at our hotel.

For a wonderful holiday over the Christmas period, join us as we make our way to Neuville-en-Ferrain for a five-night stay at the Hotel des Acacias. We’ll get to enjoy sumptuous meals and comfortable accommodation, plus three delightful sightseeing excursions.

We’ll begin with a moving battlefields tour, which will allow us to pay our respects to the brave soldiers who gave their lives for King and country during the World Wars. Our next excursion will take us to Bruges, known for its charming medieval architecture. Here, we’ll get to explore and see the sights, such as the Bruges Belfry and the Beguinage.

The next day, we’ll celebrate Christmas at our hotel with our fellow passengers, enjoying excellent celebrations and delicious food and drink. On Boxing Day, we’ll take a trip to nearby Lille to explore here. Lille is famous for its lovely old town, featuring iconic Flemish features and a number of must-see attractions.

Day One - UK to Neuville-en-Ferrain 
We’ll make our way from the UK to Neuville-en-Ferrain, via Calais, where we’ll stay at the Hotel des Acacias for the next five nights. (D)

Days Two to Five - Neuville-en-Ferrain 
We’ll have a great time, with an interesting battlefields tour with an experienced guide to make the most of, as well as excursions to Bruges and Lille and excellent Christmas entertainment and food at our hotel. (B,D)

Day Six - Neuville-en-Ferrain to UK 
Time to say goodbye today; we depart Neuville-en-Ferrain and travel back to the UK via Calais. (B)

Included Excursions

Full Day: Battlefields with Guide

We’ll get the benefit of travelling with an experienced Battlefields guide, who will be able to give us insight into the intense fighting which occurred during the World Wars. This excursion will take us to some of the key sites of fighting, and our tour guide will give us more information in the form of stories and anecdotes from soldiers.


Full Day: Bruges

Enjoy the exquisitely preserved medieval city of Bruges during this excursion. Charming Bruges is known for its winding cobbled streets, pretty gabled houses and attractive tree-lined canals, each crossed by a humpback bridge.


Half Day: Lille

We’ll enjoy a half day excursion to Lille, a city famous for its Flemish atmosphere and culture. This charming city features lovely architecture, with some of the city’s main sights including Lille Cathedral, the Citadel of Lille and the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille. We’ll spend time at leisure in the city, so we can explore and see the sights for ourselves.


Optional Excursions

Half Day: Ostend

Enjoy free time to discover the wonderful Belgian seaside resort of Ostend, with its galleries, pretty pier, and impressive Sint-Petrus-en-Pauluskerk cathedral to discover. Explore at leisure to see the sights here.


Half Day: Arras

We travel to Arras; no stranger to conflict over the centuries and during the Second World War was occupied by British forces headquarters until evacuated in May 1940. It then remained in German hands until retaken by Commonwealth and Free French forces in September 1944.


Half Day: Sluis

Visit the quaint Dutch town of Sluis on an optional excursion. Just over the border in the Netherlands Sluis has an attractive Gothic belfry and stone mill.
