The wonderful country of Iceland offers unique natural wonders and cultural heritage, from bubbling geysers to geothermal spas, which we’ll discover on this fantastic break, as well as spending time in the colourful capital of Reykjavik. Our interesting tour will stay at the heart of Iceland as well as the south coast, so we can see the varied landscapes, from the volcanic black sand beaches to glacial lagoons.

Itinerary

Day 1: UK to Iceland
Travel to your chosen airport for the flight to Reykjavik, where you will take the local shuttle bus to the Hotel Cabin, for our overnight stay.

Day 2: Reykjavik to Hella
Today after breakfast, we join our driver guide and the rest of our group and visit the famous Blue Lagoon, before travelling to the Reykjanes Peninsula, then arriving at the Arhus Cottages in Hella for our three night stay. (B)

Day 3: Landmannalaugar Highlands & Pjorsardalur Valley
We drive to the Landmannalaugar Highlands to see the colourful mountains and journey through the Pjorsardalur Valley. (B)

Day 4: Golden Circle
This morning, head out to follow the popular ‘Golden Circle’ route, taking us to three of Iceland’s famous spots. We’ll see the Strokkur geyser, then continue to Gullfoss waterfall, going on to the Pingvellir National Park. (B)

Day 5: Porsmork & Vatnajokull
Our day starts with a visit to see the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, before we continue to dramatic Porsmork Valley, with the magnificent Eyjafjallajokull towering above. We continue to the Hotel Skaftatall in Oraefi for our two night stay. (B)

Day 6: Glacial Glory
Today is centered around the majestic surroundings of the Svinafellsjokull glacier. We’ll start with a moderate hike, taking in the scenery of some of Iceland’s most spectacular peaks. This afternoon, we also enjoy a cruise on the lagoon, before going to see one of the black sand beaches. (B)

Day 7: South coast to Reykjavik
Our journey heads back towards Reykjavik today, as we travel along the south coast. Enjoy a stroll on the black lava beach, before we call at the Skogafoss waterfall. On arrival back in the capital, we enjoy a city tour, before our final overnight stay at the Hotel Cabin. (B)

Day 8: Reykjavik to UK
Take the shuttle bus service from the hotel back to the airport for your return flight home. (B)

Blue Lagoon And Reykjanes Peninsula

We visit the famous Blue Lagoon for chance to bathe in the geothermal waters, before travelling to the Reykjanes Peninsula, passing the landscapes of lava fields and dramatic coast. On our way, we’ll stop at a local fishing village and the Maritime & Folk Museum.

Glacial Glory

Today is centered around the majestic surroundings of the Svinafellsjokull glacier. We’ll start with a moderate hike, taking in the scenery of some of Iceland’s most spectacular peaks. Our experiences guide leads us through this wonderland, with its deep crevasses and different ice formations. This afternoon, we also enjoy a cruise on the lagoon, before going to see one of the black sand beaches.

Golden Circle

We head out to follow the popular ‘Golden Circle’ route, taking us to three of Iceland’s famous spots. We’ll see the Strokkur geyser, then continue to Gullfoss waterfall, going on to the Pingvellir National Park. Even before arriving at the geyser geothermal fields, you will see the steam rising as we approach.

Landmannalaugar Highlands And Pjorsardalur Valley

We drive to the Landmannalaugar Highlands to see the colourful mountains and you have the opportunity for a dip in a geothermal stream. On our way through the Pjorsardalur Valley, admire the beautiful Hjalparfoss waterfall and extraordinary basalt rock formations. See the Viking farm ruins at Stong and enjoy a leisurely hike with our guide to the green oasis of Gjain.

Porsmork And Vatnajokull

Our day starts with a visit to see the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, before we continue to dramatic Porsmork Valley, surrounded by steep valleys and glaciers, with the magnificent Eyjafjallajokull towering above. This is a popular hiking area and weather dependent, you may also enjoy an easy hike in Porsmork.

South coast to Reykjavik

Our journey heads back towards Reykjavik today, as we travel along the south coast, overlooked by mountainous cliffs. Enjoy a stroll on the black lava beach and see the bird cliffs, before we call at the Skogafoss waterfall. On arrival back in the capital, we enjoy an interesting city tour.
