Highlights of the Lake District

The Cumbrian town of Kendal is a bustling shopping centre with good restaurants and attractions, and will be forever linked with its famous mint cake. It makes for a great base for exploring the nearby Lake District, and towns such as Windermere, Keswick and Grasmere are all must-see destinations.

Did not enjoy having 2 feeder coaches to get to my destination. Picked up the mini bus locally at 8am, and after 3 other pickups arrived at South Mimms service station and then on to Rugby Service station for another change of coach. Finally arrived at the hotel at 6.15pm. Evening meal was delayed to 7pm, but still a bit of a rush. Waitress service was very slow at the hotel, no reason what order you were given your meal. Still had to wait over half an hour if you didn't order a starter. Good entertainment though and reasonable prices at the bar. Optional excursion very good value for money. Another delay on the homeward journey. Arrived at Rugby at 1pm. Coach and driver from Scotland didn't arrive until 2.15pm and then he had to have a break until 3pm

Our only comment is that breakfast was rushed because the tours left early ,30 min later start time on the trips would have been better

The holiday was fine, the hotel was ok. Visited all the main attractions of the Lake District, some were better than others. Would recommend as a holiday but not staying at County hotel Kendal.
