Itinerary

Day One - UK to France

We join our coach and cross to Calais, with a voucher to take an early dinner on board. We continue then for an overnight stay in France. (D)

Day Two - France to Meiringen
We depart our hotel and continue to Meiringen for a three night stay at the Parkhotel du Sauvage. (B,D)

Day Three - Golden Pass Railway
Sit back, relax and take in the magnificent scenery as we travel on board the Golden Pass Railway line from Meiringen to Lucerne today, with incredible views as we travel. Set on Lake Lucerne, with its little wooden bridges, medieval frescoed buildings, quaint narrow streets, sparkling fountains and pavement cafes, Lucerne itself is a delight to explore. We'll return to our hotel by coach. (B,D)

Day Four - Meiringen
At leisure in Meiringen, famous for its connections with Sherlock Homes and the nearby Reichenbach Falls. Why not take some time to explore the nearby Sherlock Holmes Museum to find out more about this iconic literary character, or join an optional excursion? Or you may choose to join our optional Scenic Passes excursion. (B,D)

Day Five - Glacier Express
We travel by coach to Andermatt and join the Glacier Express, travelling through spectacular scenery to Chur, and then continuing by coach to Davos for a three night stay at the Hotel Europe. (B,D)

Day Six - Davos
Free time to relax. Make the most of your free Davos Klosters card, which will provide us with free or reduced travel on local cable cars, as well as travel on local Rhaetian trains and buses. We’ll be able to visit a number of attractions in and around Davos with our passes too. (B,D)

Day Seven - Bernina Express Railway
Join our unforgettable journey on the Bernina Express Railway today. This wonderful railway line enjoys breath-taking views from panoramic carriages, as we travel over the stretch from Davos, which is the highest town in Europe, before we descend down to Tirano in Italy. We return back to our hotel by coach. (B,D)

Day Eight - Davos to France
Depart Davos and travel to France for our final overnight stay. (B,D)

Day Nine - France to UK
We return to Calais, and then make our onward journey home. (B)

Parkhotel du Sauvage

The Parkhotel du Sauvage enjoys a town centre location in the lovely resort of Meiringen, home of the meringue. Set in its own parkland with a lovely sunbathing area, the hotel is close to the town's attractions, including the Sherlock Holmes Museum.

Bernina Express Railway

The Bernina Express is the crowning glory of our holiday in Switzerland, and it’ll allow us to enjoy even more of the country’s stunning scenery. We’ll travel from Davos in the Swiss Alps to Tirano in Italy, enjoying the panoramic views our train will afford. 

The journey will take us through the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula / Bernina Landscapes. Providing fantastic views and passing through many small towns and villages, we’ll be able to marvel at the natural landscape. We’ll undoubtedly see some of the best views available in Switzerland and will be treated to a classic mix of alpine scenery, including snow-capped mountains, green rolling hills and densely forested areas. Once in Italy, admire incredible views as we travel through a beautiful Italian valley to reach Tirano. 

This railway is absolutely unique in that it’s the highest in Europe. With breath-taking scenery and excellent service, this is sure to make our holiday in Switzerland all the more interesting.

Glacier Express to Chur

The Glacier Express, Europe’s slowest ‘express’ train, is definitely one of the world’s most spectacular rail journeys and is sure to be a real highlight of our holiday.

Travelling by coach to Andermatt, we join the trip of a lifetime on-board the Glacier Express, journeying through untouched Alpine countryside and ever-changing landscapes of mountain streams and towering walls of rock. We disembark in Chur.

Golden Pass Railway

The Golden Pass Line from Lucerne to Montreux combines three diverse routes to connect mountains, woodlands, lakes, vineyards and even castles with several of Switzerland's most popular destinations. Our journey commences in Meiringen and we start to climb uphill, onto the Brunig Pass, and from there down to central Switzerland. We pass Lake Lungern and Lake Sarnen on the descent, and our final destination is Lucerne.

Join us for a wonderful optional excursion today, as we enjoy a superb cruise on Lake Lucerne. This splendid lake is famous for its amazing scenery, with placid waters and surrounding mountains, and we’ll get to take in this incredible landscape during our cruise.

Four Tour Passes

You will enjoy a scenic drive over the Four Passes - Gotthard, Furka, Nufenen and Grimsel. The Four Pass road winds its way in sweeping curves through hauntingly beautiful rocky landscapes, a wild sparsely grown mountainous region marked by granite rocks and reservoir lakes.
