Enjoy the opportunity to celebrate the festive season in style, as we head to Austria for a wonderful holiday. Beginning in Vocklabruck, we discover Austria’s beautiful Lake District region, before continuing to the traditional Tyrolean town of Brandenberg.
Take the time to explore Salzburg, perhaps best known as the setting for The Sound of Music, as well as for being Mozart’s birthplace. During our excursion here, we’ll have time at leisure to see many attractions, such as Mirabell Gardens and the historical Old Town.
On Christmas Day, we’ll celebrate at our hotel with a turkey lunch, with our fellow holidaymakers. On Boxing Day, we’ll discover the incredible Austrian Lakes, with a boat ride from lovely St Wolfgang to captivating St Gilgen. Before we leave, we’ll enjoy a relaxing carriage ride through magnificent Austrian scenery.
From our next base in Brandenberg, we’ll visit Innsbruck. This excellent city is home to a number of fantastic sights, including the Golden Roof building and the Imperial Hofburg. After exploring at leisure, we’ll visit a Schnapps Museum in Pill to find out more about this popular beverage.We’ll discover festive Kufstein in the afternoon, transformed into a winter wonderland at this time of year. Ride the cable car with us up to the Kufstein Fortress, before returning to the hotel for dinner.

Full Day: Austrian Lakes
The Austrian lakes are known for their stunning beauty; with the Salzkammergut region undoubtedly being one of Austria’s finest. Admire breath-taking views as we visit Wolfgang Lake to explore St Wolfgang. We will enjoy a cruise on this stunning lake, travelling from St Wolfgang to St Gilgen, known for its picturesque setting.
Sit back, relax and soak up the extraordinary surroundings - you’re sure to want to remember your camera for this excursion!
Full Day: Innsbruck and Schnapps Museum
A charming city and the capital of the Tyrol, Innsbruck is surrounded by the high Alps and is a fantastic place to visit. It has plenty of charm thanks to its impressive architecture, including the splendid Golden Roof landmark, which dates from 1500 and was built for Emperor Maximilian I when he married Bianca Maria Sforza.
Alongside this, there are also a wide choice of shops and restaurants in the quaint Maria-Theresien Strasse, and other attractions include the Tyrolean State Museum, Innsbruck Cathedral, Ambras Castle and much more.
After our time at leisure in Innsbruck, we’ll take a trip to nearby Pill to visit a Schnapps Museum. Find out more about this drink, learning about its history and how it’s made, before sampling some of the museum’s Schnapps for ourselves!
Full Day: Salzburg Markets
Explore the beautiful city of Salzburg, famous as the birthplace of Mozart and filming location of ‘The Sound of Music’. Visit the traditional Christmas markets and pick up some seasonal gifts and festive fayre.
Half Day: Carriage Ride
Celebrate the festive season in one of the best ways possible - with a wonderful carriage ride! Admire the beautiful Austrian scenery and make the most of this unique experience.
Half Day: Kufstein
Join us on our visit to charming Kufstein, a village just over the border from Bavaria. This charming destination is dominated by an ancient fortress, first mentioned in 1205. Today it houses the local museum, and the biggest open air organ in the world can be found in the castle tower.
Guided walking tour of Innsbruck
To learn more about Innsbruck, and to take in even more of the splendid sights, we’ll also be able to join an optional guided walking tour of the city. This will give us greater insight into Innsbruck’s history, and will allow us to tour more of the city.
