As we start to make our way home, we’ll travel via a scenic coastal route and the wonderful city of Pisa, which is known throughout the world as the home of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. We’ll enjoy free time in the city to explore at leisure before continuing our journey home.
When Vesuvius erupted in AD 79, covering Pompeii in deep volcanic ash, it preserved for posterity one of the region’s most important Roman centres. Today, we see a remarkable excavation site and outdoor museum of the ancient Roman settlement. This site is considered to be one of the few where an ancient city has been preserved in detail - everything from jars and tables to paintings and people were frozen in time, yielding, together with neighbouring Herculaneum which suffered the same fate, an unprecedented opportunity to see how its people lived two thousand years ago.

The Sistine Chapel is most famous for Michelangelo’s breath-taking artwork - The Last Judgement. Admire the incredible art and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere here!
