Day One - Home to Chollerford
We’ll make our way from the interchange to Chollerford, where we’ll check in to the George Hotel and will enjoy a sumptuous evening meal. (D)
Days Two To Four - Chollerford
We’ll have a great time, with excursions to Durham to make the most of the cathedral, castle, medieval streets and beautiful riverside walks combine to make an unforgettable visit. (B,D)
Day Five - Chollerford to Home
Time to say goodbye today; we depart after breakfast and make our way to the interchange before returning home. (B)
Whether you want to walk in the countryside, visit cosmopolitan Newcastle, go fishing in the River Tyne or simply relax in the recently refurbished leisure club, The George Hotel is an ideal base for a Northumberland holiday.
The hotel is a short walk away from Chesters Roman Fort and Museum and just a few miles away from other historic sites associated with Hadrian’s Wall. Take advantage of the opportunity to go fishing in the River Tyne with the hiring of equipment possible from the hotel.
There’s also the opportunity to discover fantastic countryside and astounding scenery on one of the many fantastic trails into Northumberland National Park. Otherwise take in the history, beautiful architecture and great shopping and entertainment of Newcastle, just over half an hour’s drive away or just over an hour by public transport.
The hotel has a wonderful modern restaurant with a tasty menu that varies daily as well as a tranquil lounge and bar, perfect for an after dinner drink. If you feel like unwinding after a long day exploring the many local attractions then visit the hotel’s leisure club where you can swim in the pool or relax in the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.

Join us for a jaunt following the route of Hadrian’s famous wall with the chance to visit the ancient market town of Hexham.
From the moment you first spot the iconic Tyne Bridge until you leave, you won't run out of things to see and do while you're in the fantastic city of Newcastle. Whether you want to enjoy some retail therapy at the boutique shops of the Central Arcade or you fancy taking in some history at the remains of the Castle there's something for everyone. There's also the great museums spread across the city including the Great North Museum and University Galleries, after all that why not sample one of the many pubs the city is famous for?
