Join us as we make our way to wonderful Windermere for a fantastic four-day holiday, packed with interesting things to see and do during our time away. The highlight of our holiday will be our trip to Ulverston, where we’ll step back in time to make the most of the town’s superb Dickensian Festival!
We’ll stay at the Windermere Hotel, situated on a hilltop overlooking the village. With time to explore this picturesque setting at leisure, we’ll have a lovely, relaxing holiday. Not only will this, but our excursion to Ulverston allows us to enjoy the spectacular Ulverston Dickensian Festival.
Now in its 16th year, Ulverston Dickensian Festival is a wonderful community event, and alongside the specialist shops, pubs and cafes in this charming town, we’ll also find a huge variety of free entertainment. From costume competitions to horse drawn carriages, as well as a traditional fairground, we’ll have a superb time at one of the most popular Dickensian festivals in the UK!
Day One - Home to Windermere
We’ll make our way from the interchange to Windermere, where we’ll check in to the Windermere Hotel and will enjoy a sumptuous evening meal. (D)
Days Two and Three - Windermere
We’ll have a great time, with a trip to Ulverston to explore the superb Dickensian Festival here. (B,D)
Day Four - Windermere to Home
Time to say goodbye today; we depart after breakfast and make our way to the interchange before returning home. (B)
The Windermere is an iconic hotel with views over the town and lake Windermere. It is the perfect place from which to explore the lakes and many of the region’s most stunning walks can be started nearby.
Windermere is a thriving lakeside town with a number of attractions including The World of Beatrix Potter. Whatsmore, the streets are lined with local shops, bustling cafes and stylish restaurants for you to enjoy..
Going further into the Lake District national park you can discover one of the prettiest little villages, Grasmere set in a valley next to the lake. Or visit Ambleside at the end of Lake Windermere, which is said to have the most pubs per person of the population than any village in the country.
Staying in the Windermere Hotel you can enjoy fantastic and varied menus in the restaurant with breakfast and evening meals available. Then in the evening why not have a nightcap in the hotel’s brand new Orrest Head Lodge Bar.
Ulverston Dickensian Festival
Join our excursion to Ulverston to enjoy the Dickensian Festival. One of the most popular Dickensian Festivals in the UK, the cobbled streets of Ulverston offer the fantastic specialist shops, delightful tea rooms and a wonderful atmosphere and throughout the day there is a huge variety of free entertainment for all as well as a quaint Christmas Market offering unusual gifts and festive food!
