This Holiday is Great For
Day One: Home to Braemar
We make our way from the interchange and travel to the Bay Invercauld Arms hotel in Braemar, ready to enjoy an extra-special Christmas break! (D)
Days Two to Four: Braemar
We’ve included two excursions over our three days in Braemar. First, enjoy a matinee pantomime show performed by the local community in the Village Hall in Braemar. We’ll also enjoy a scenic drive through Royal Deeside to arrive at Crathie Church – best known as the regular place of worship for the Royal Family when they holiday at nearby Balmoral Castle. The final day is free for you to enjoy at your leisure. Staying in Braemar is a great opportunity to explore the Cairngorms National Park. The largest national park in the country is made up of mountainous areas interspersed with lochs, rivers, woodland and moorland which all make this an incredible place to visit. (B,D)
Day Five: Braemar to Home
Time to say goodbye to Braemar today, as we travel back to the interchange and then continue home. (B)
Invercauld Arms Hotel
The Invercauld Arms has a history dating back almost 400 years and the classic beauty of our hotel is only matched by its remarkable location among the wild glens and ancient forests of the Cairngorms.
The town of Braemar is a popular starting point for hill walks and treks with a number starting here. The tourist information centre has details of a number of walks you can take, ranging from easy walks which take a couple of hours to testing full-day hikes.
Further afield you can easily reach the cities of Perth, Dundee and Aberdeen for a day trip, each of which is packed with history. Or take a scenic drive to the town of Aviemore on the other side of the park, passing the charming town of Tomintoul and the colossal peaks the park is famous for.
In the hotel you will enjoy traditional architecture and interiors and fabulous meals in the Castleview Restaurant. After a long day of exploring the surrounding countryside you can relax in the bar and enjoy a dram of the local whiskey before settling down in your comfortable and stylish room for the night.
Enjoy a matinee pantomime show performed by the local community in the Village Hall in Braemar. It has been an annual event for over nearly two decades and is an enjoyable part of our festive celebrations!
