The Anderton Boat Lift still does the job it was designed to do, dating back to 1875 – lifting narrowboats 50 feet up from the River Weaver to the Trent and Mersey Canal – a truly impressive sight. We’ll also visit the ancient market town of Llangollen.

Day One - Home to Chester
We’ll make our way from the interchange to the Hallmark Queen Hotel Chester, where we’ll check in and enjoy an evening meal. (D)

Days Two to Four – Chester
We’ll have a great time, with two included excursions to enjoy – the highlight being a visit to the Anderton Boat Lift, as well as visiting Llangollen. (B,D)

Day Five – Chester to Home
Time to say goodbye today; we depart after breakfast and make our way to the interchange before returning home. (B)

Full Day: Blakemere Craft Centre and Anderton Boat Lift

Excursion incorporating a stop at the popular Blakemere Craft Centre and a visit to the Anderton Boat Lift. Known as the 'Cathedral of the Canals', this is the world's first boat lift and an impressive feat of engineering.


Full Day: Llangollen

Enjoy a scenic tour travelling via Rhos-on-Sea and the marble church at St Asaph to visit the ancient market town of Llangollen, nestled within the beautiful Dee Valley and under the watchful gaze of Dinas Bran Castle. We return to Llandudno via the scenic Horseshoe Pass.
