Day One: Home to Matlock Bath
We’ll make our way from the interchange to Matlock Bath, where we’ll check in to the New Bath Hotel & Spa and will enjoy an evening meal. (D)
Days Two to Four: Matlock Bath
Spending three days in Matlock Bath during which time we take two excursions. We travel to the Wedgwood visitor centre in Stoke where you can learn about the history of pottery making in the city and the influence of Josiah Wedgwood and his descendants on the industrial revolution and the enlightenment.
We also visit Chatsworth House, near the quaint town of Matlock. The house is known for its art collection and the landscape in which it sits. We will have time here to explore the house, with the opportunity to discover Chatsworth before it opens to the general public.
You will also have a day of free time to explore the area around our hotel, which has a number of great walkways through pretty countryside. Or take a short walk to Matlock Bath where you can catch the train to Matlock or visit the Heights of Abraham for fabulous views of the surrounding countryside (B,D)
Time to say goodbye today; we depart after breakfast and make our way to the interchange before returning home. (B)
New Bath Hotel
Following a recent, extensive renovation, the four-star New Bath Hotel has luxurious bedrooms all of which offer stunning views of Derbyshire. The restaurant menu incorporates the finest seasonal ingredients, sourced from local suppliers and enjoys stunning views of the Derwent Gorge. There is also a new spa which features a hot tub, sauna, steam room and treatment rooms.
Full Day: Chatsworth House
Tour the beautiful Peak District and then visit Chatsworth House, near Bakewell. The ancestral home of the Dukes of Devonshire and affectionately known as the ‘Palace of the Peaks’ there is much to enjoy here. Take in the magnficient house and some of the masterpieces from the Devonshire Collection. Discover the stunning grounds and gardens before we depart.
Half Day: World of Wedgwood
Trip to the World of Wedgwood, a unique, interactive visitor centre experience, celebrating the very best of British craftsmanship.
