A superb tour taking in some of the most scenic regions of Spain and the fantastic cities and attractions within them. Visit the stunning region of Cantabria, famous for the Picos de Europa national park and picturesque coastal towns and villages.
We continue to the historical walled town of Avila where you will stay in a renovated 14th century Palace whilst enjoying excursions to Segovia and Madrid. In Madrid you will sample a traditional lunch before enjoying a superb Flamenco show.
You will also experience en-route visits to Paris, where we enjoy a panoramic tour, a vineyard in the Bordeaux region and have time to explore the beautiful French coastal resort of Biarritz.

Day one: UK to Paris
We depart the UK and travel to the Paris area for our first overnight hotel, arriving in time for evening meal. (D)
Day Two: Panoramic Paris
We depart the hotel today for a panoramic tour of Paris on your coach seeing the famous sights such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe. We continue through France to our overnight hotel. (B,D)
Day Three: Wine Tasting
Following a leisurely breakfast we continue south in France stopping for a wine tasting in the Bordeaux region. Learn how the famous wines of this region are made and enjoy a tasting. We continue to our hotel close to Biarritz for a two night stay. (B,D)
Day Four: Biarritz
A more leisurely pace today as we explore Biarritz, a famous coastal resort in the south west of France. Located on the Bay of Biscay, the resort is popular for surfers on the Grande Plage. Away from the beach you can wander the promenades and streets lined with elegant villas and residencies. Enjoy the wealth of cafes, bars and restaurants spilling out on to the terraces, pavements and squares. (B,D)
Day Five: Biarritz to Cantabria
We continue our journey south crossing the border into Spain and along the north coast. We stop in the beautiful coastal village of Castro-Urdiales, a small seafaring and fishing village where we have some free time and lunch. We then continue to Suances and the Gran Hotel, our base for the next 3 nights. (B,D)
Day Six: Picos de Europa
We are joined by a local tour guide today for a full day tour through the Picos de Europa. Home to some of the best scenery in Spain and 3 limestone massifs we will explore this fantastic mountain range. You will experience the Fuente De cable car rising over 753 metres and giving unparalleled vies across the mountain range. (B,D)
Day Seven: Santilliana del Mar and Altamira Caves
Today we enjoy another fantastic excursion to Santilliana del Mar, a small medieval town sometimes thought of as a film set given the perfect state of its preservation. Explore the narrow, cobbled streets filled with picturesque stone buildings. We continue to Altamira Caves which features prehistoric paintings of bison, horses and deer. In order to preserve the paintings it was decided in 2002 that visitors would see replicas, but this is still worth the visit. (B,D)
Day Eight: Cantabria to Avila
We leave the mountains and coastal resorts of Cantabria behind and continue to the region of Castile & Leon. Home to historic towns and cities we arrive in the beautiful walled town of Avila and an impressive former 14th century Palace which will be our base for the next 3 nights, the Palacio de Valderrabanos. Located in the centre of town, get to know your surroundings before your evening meal. (B,D)
Day Nine: Segovia & Avila
We make the short journey to the town of Segovia, famous for the magnificent Aqueduct. You will struggle to find as good an example of Roman grandeur anywhere else in Spain. You will have free time to explore the quaint squares and terracotta buildings all set against the backdrop of the Sierra de Guadarrama. We return to Avila in the afternoon where you will have the option of a guided walking tour of the town. Surrounded by a wall with 88 watchtowers and more than 2,500 turrets, it is a fine example of a preserved medieval bastion. (B,D)
Day Ten: Madrid
Today we drive to the capital city of Madrid, famous throughout the world for its art galleries and museums including the Museo del Prado. You will have time to explore this magnificent city before enjoying a traditional lunch (included instead of dinner today) in one of the city’s most famous restaurants. In the evening you will watch a Flamenco show at the Teatro Flamenco allowing you to discover the essence of pure flamenco. Following the show we will return to our hotel in Avila. (B,L)
Day Eleven: Avila to Bordeaux
It is time to leave Spain behind and start our journey back towards the UK. We will cross the border into France and overnight in the Bordeaux area. (B,D)
Day Twelve: Bordeaux to Paris area
We continue our journey through France to the Paris area for our last overnight. (B,D)
Day Thirteen: Return to UK
We travel back to Calais and our return crossing to the UK and continue our journey home. (B)
Full day: Biarritz
Located on the Bay of Biscay in the south west of France, we will have a full day to explore Biarritz. Wander the promenade of the famous Grande Plage or explore the streets lined with elegant villas and residencies. Enjoy the wealth of cafes, bars and restaurants spilling out on to the terraces, pavements and squares.
Full Day: Madrid
Enjoy a full day to the Spanish capital, Madrid. We include free time to explore this famous city and include a traditional lunch in one of Madrid's famous restaurants. In the evening we have included a Flamenco show in the Teatro Flamenco before returning to Avila.
Full day: Picos de Europa and Fuente De cable car
A full tour exploring the stunning Picos de Europa national park. A tour guide will join us to point out the main sights and attractions and we include a trip up the Fuente De cable car offering stunning views form the top.
Full day: Santilliana del Mar and Altamira Caves
A tour guide joins us again today for a tour to Santilliana del Mar and Altamira Caves. Explore the narrow, cobbled streets filled with picturesque stone buildings. Half day: Segovia guided tour
Enjoy a guided tour of Segovia finding out all the interesting facts of the famous aqueduct and Alcazar castle, renowned for being the inspiration for Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty’s castle.
Half Day: Segovia
Enjoy a half day excursion to Segovia, famous for its stunning Roman aqueduct. Explore the narrow streets full with terracotta and sandstone buildings all against the backdrop of the Sierra de Guadarrama.
Half day: St Jean-de-Luz
St Jean-de-Luz is a typical Basque seaside town complete with atmospheric narrow streets, lively harbour and lovely sandy beach.
