The Carpet of Flowers is held every 2 years and takes volunteers 4 hours to create their masterpiece of over 1800m squared of begonias. As well as the carpet you will have time to explore the remainder of Brussels or enjoy our optional guided city tour. We will also visit the beautiful medieval city of Bruges, famous for its maze of canals and great array of attractions and museums.

Itinerary

Day 1 - UK to Brussels
Travel across to Calais and continue to our hotel in Brussels, the Mercure Brussels Airport, our base for the next three nights.

Day 2 - Brussels and Carpet of Flowers
We have a full day to explore Brussels and the Carpet of Flowers. The carpet covers an area 75m x 24m and covers the Grand Place in an array of colours. After viewing the flowers spend time seeing the rest of the sights that Brussels has to offer including the Mannekin Pis, Atomium or go shopping in the fashionable Avenue Louise.

Day 3 - Bruges
We’ll spend a full day in Bruges and will be able to explore the city at leisure, enjoying its architecture and historic details. Whether we choose to simply soak up the atmosphere here and admire the scenery, or visit one of the city’s many attractions - such as its medieval belfry - we’re sure to have a lovely time.

Day 4 - Brussels to UK
We depart Brussels and retrace our steps back to Calais for our return crossing and continue our journey home.

Located on the outskirts of Brussels but within easy access of the city centre and all its famous sights and attractions.

Optional Excursions

Brussels Guided Coach Tour

Brussels, the capital city of Belgium, is an excellent city filled with stunning scenery and architecture and, while visiting to see the Brussels Christmas Market, we’ll be given the option of enjoying a guided coach tour.

This will take us past some of the many well-known attractions in the city, such as its historic centre, the Gothic town hall and the beautiful Museum of the City of Brussels. These, as well as many other attractions, will be the talking point for the tour, which will guide us through the city’s history.

Bruges Guided Walking Tour

Bruges is a fascinating city, and we’ll be able to enjoy a guided walking tour of the city while we’re there. This will provide us with more information about the city, as well as showing us some of the most famous attractions and landmarks.
