The landscape of the Lake District was the inspiration for many of Beatrix Potter’s popular stories. Her love of this beautiful area stemmed from many childhood holidays and she set many of her most famous stories here.
On this trip you’ll have the chance to explore the World of Beatrix Potter attraction in Bowness-on-Windermere where the 23 magical tales by the author are brought to life with the sights and sounds of the various characters. Meet your favourites, Squirrel Nutkin, Mrs. Tiggywinkle and Mr. Tod and of course, Peter Rabbit.

We’ll also take in beautiful Lake Windermere on a lake cruise, enjoy a trip along the River Leven on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway and have a fabulous cream tea at Lindeth Howe Hotel.

Itinerary

Day One: Home to Newby Bridge
We’ll make our way from the interchange to Newby Bridge, staying at the Newby Bridge Hotel on the River Leven in the heart of the stunning Lake District national park. Following check in we will enjoy an evening meal. (D)

Days Two to Four: Newby Bridge
While in the Lake District we’ll have a great time, with two included excursions. One goes to the World of Beatrix Potter attraction after which we’ll have a splendid afternoon tea at the Lindeth Howe Hotel. We’ll also take a trip on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway along the River Leven before exploring further afield in the park in Coniston, Hawkshead and Ambleside. You’ll also have a day to explore the area around the hotel which is situated in beautiful south Lakeland, with public transport links to Lake Windermere, Kendal and Windermere town. (B,D)

Day Five: Newby Bridge to Home
Time to say goodbye today; we depart after breakfast and make our way to the interchange before returning home. (B)

This elegant hotel is sitiuated overlooking Lake Windermere and within five acres of lovely grounds. Facilities include a swimming pool, spa, steam room and gym. The hotel restaurant offers a menu which uses fresh produce from the hotel's own garden.

Full Day: Lake District

Today we’ll be treated to an excursion travelling through lush countryside to discover the charm and beauty of the glorious Lake District. We’ll then enjoy free time to explore delightful Bowness, situated on the shores of Lake Windermere and with plenty of fantastic attractions and things to do to be found here. We also visit Grasmere, home to William Wordsworth for over 14 years, who called it, “the loveliest spot that man hath ever found."

Full Day: World of Beatrix Potter

We take a hop, skip and a jump to the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, where you can experience all her magical tales brought to life. Many of the authors favourite characters are brought to life in 3D and the Peter Rabbit Garden tells the story of Beatrix Potter’s love for nature and captures the essence of her world. Following this we take a lake cruise, one of the best ways to truly appreciate this fabulous landscape. We finish off our excursion with afternoon tea at the Lindeth Howe Hotel.
