En Route: Koblenz at Christmas
We’ll call for a short stop in Koblenz, for chance to see the traditional Christmas market held in the picturesque old town, with around 130 festively decorated wooden stalls, offering beautiful decorations and seasonal gift ideas.
Today we visit Bavaria’s second largest city, Nuremberg. Historically the city was one of the most important centres of the Holy Roman Empire and is now known as one of the best examples of what visitors would expect from a “typical” German town. It has a huge Old Town in its centre with sights including the castle, city walls, and the colossal St Sebald Church.
Charming Rothenburg ob der Tauber is set on Germany’s famous ‘Romantic Road’ and boasts some of the most impressive medieval architecture in Europe. Home to the famous German Christmas Museum, decorations can be bought here all year round, but the festive markets make the town an even more magical place to visit.
This beautiful town is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is home to Europe’s largest preserved old town quarter, where the facades of buildings are richly decorated with fascinating detail. The traditional Christmas markets make a visit to Bamberg even more magical.
Nuremberg Guided City Tour
A city fit for a king; don’t miss this opportunity to discover the undeclared capital of the Holy Roman Empire, where the beer is as dark as the coffee. The cityscape of Nuremberg, Bavaria’s second largest city, is dominated by the stunning castle, a mighty fortress built in 1140.
Of course, Nuremberg is also known for the activities that took place here before and during the Second World War, and our guided city tour will uncover infamous sites including the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds.
Rothenburg Guided Walking Tour
Ensure you see all the best bits of Rothenburg with an interesting guided walking tour. Time has almost stood still in this beautiful town, with its wealth of medieval buildings.
