The Local Area

Included Excursions

Full day Innsbruck

Innsbruck is a wonderful city and is, in fact, the capital city of Tyrol. Its placement in a valley means it features excellent scenery, with high mountains on all sides. This Alpine scenery makes the city even more mesmerising, but there’s a lot more to see in the city besides its views.

For instance, while at leisure in Innsbruck, you may choose to visit some of the many attractions the city has to offer, such as Ambras Castle, the Rococo-style Helblinghaus and, opposite it, the iconic Goldenes Dachl, which many see as Innsbruck’s symbol. This building features thousands of fire-gilded copper tiles that account for its name, which can be translated as ‘Golden Roof’. It was built for Emperor Maximilian I when he married Bianca Maria Sforza in 1500.

Full Day: Salzburg

The city of Salzburg makes for an excellent excursion, the city famous for being home to the Sound of Music. Enjoy the old town with its impressive fortress and cathedral, take time out to visit the house where Mozart was born or relax in the Mirabell Gardens.

There are numerous architectural styles to be found in Salzburg, including Romanesque, gothic, renaissance, baroque and many more modern styles. We’ll be able to admire this architecture throughout our visit, as well as exploring the city itself to see its many attractions.

Half Day: Lake Achensee

Take in the views of the surrounding alpine scenery, as we sit back and enjoy a boat trip on lovely Lake Achensee, the largest lake in the Tyrol region.

Optional Excursions

Full Day: Scenic Drive

Join us as we enjoy a scenic drive today, taking splendid landscapes and calling at the charming towns of Rattenberg and Mayrhofen.

Guided walking tour of Innsbruck

To learn more about Innsbruck, and to take in even more of the splendid sights, we’ll also be able to join an optional guided walking tour of the city. This will give us greater insight into Innsbruck’s history, and will allow us to tour more of the city.

Half Day: Kitzbuhl and St Johann

Enjoy a half day tour of two interesting towns today, as we take in Kitzbuhl and St Johann. Kitzbuhl is a charming medieval town, known for its pretty town centre and colourful houses. We then continue to St Johann, with its beautiful baroque church and glorious surrounding scenery.

Salzburg Guided City Tour

The city of Salzburg is known for its splendid architecture, much of which is in the extraordinary baroque style. It’s also known for its use in the ‘Sound of Music’ with the grand views seen in the film visible in real life in the city. We’ll take a guided city tour to uncover Salzburg’s history and to see the sights in this captivating city.
