Salou, with its wonderful sea views and lovely beaches, makes for the ideal holiday destination and is a welcoming location.
The city is situated on the Costa Daurada, which is known for its amazing coastlines and stunning scenery, and it certainly isn’t lacking in terms of things to do. There’s always something fun available, from relaxing on one of the city’s many beaches to enjoying a spot of sightseeing.

Itinerary

Day One: Depart UK
In the morning of day one, we’ll make the journey from the UK to Salou, which will see us travelling via Calais. From there, we’ll travel through the night on our overnight express coach to arrive at the Hotel Golden Donaire in Salou.

Day Two: Arrive in Salou
We arrive in Salou late morning and have time to settle into our hotel for our first night in-resort. (D)

Days Three to Fourteen: Salou
We'll spend another twelve days in wonderful Salou, enjoying two included excursions during our time there and making the most of our days relaxing in the sunshine. We enjoy a full day trip to the fantastic city of Barcelona with an abundance of things to see and do, including seeing the Sagrada Familia and shopping on Las Ramblas. It will also be possible to enjoy a great guided tour of the city while we are there on an added optional tour.

We’ll also take a half day excursion to the market at Cambrils to experience traditionally Spanish stalls and enjoy fresh food.

You can also choose to enjoy one of our fantastic optional excursions, including half day trips to Reus, known for its wines and being the birthplace of Antonio Gaudi and to Sitges, which is famous for its beautiful beaches. 

Or choose to join an excursion to Tarragona which has a number of sites including churches from various periods and a preserved Roman colosseum, this tour ends with a trip to see the fountains of Montjuic in Barcelona by night.

Spend the rest of your holiday enjoying optional extra excursions, or enjoying local attractions such as Port Aventura or simply relaxing by the pool or on the beach.  (B,L,D)

Day Fifteen: Depart Salou

As our holiday draws to a close, we’ll say goodbye to Salou and will travel to Calais. (B,L)

Day Sixteen: Arrive in UK
We’ll then return to the UK via Calais, and will take the coach back to our local joining points.

Full Day: Barcelona

Barcelona is the fourth most visited in city in Europe and is a lively and exciting place to discover.  Especially remarkable is the work of architect Antoni Gaudí, which can be seen throughout the city. His best-known work is the unfinished church of the Sagrada Família, which has been under construction since 1882.

Half Day: Cambrils Market

Cambrils, which is located just a short drive from Salou, is home to two excellent markets - its general market, selling food and other wares, and its antiques market, where shoppers can purchase all manner of interesting items. Situated in the Old Town, both of these markets are absolutely excellent, and we’ll get to tour them during this exciting excursion.

Optional Excursions

Barcelona and Guided City Tour

The Catalan capital, Barcelona is a fantastic city to explore at leisure, with its wonderful architecture and bustling atmosphere. Admire Antoni Gaudi’s incredible Modernist creations, including the as-yet-unfinished Sagrada Familia, and spend time shopping along the famous Las Ramblas boulevard.

During our time in Barcelona, we’ll enjoy an included guided city tour of the Gothic Quarter, so we can discover the history of the most cosmopolitan city if the Mediterranean -Barcelona. We’ll admire the amazing architecture here, and with delve into the interesting heritage of the city. Considered the historical centre of Barcelona, the Gothic Quarter is famous for containing attractions such as the city’s cathedral, a number of beautiful churches, the last remaining parts of the city’s Roman walls, and the Barcelona City History Museum.

Our expert guide will have plenty to tell us, including stories we’ll never hear otherwise. We’ll walk around the Cathedral, through narrow streets lined with traditional bars and cafeterias, artisanal and trendy shops. We’ll also travel by a number of important museums, such as the Picasso museum, and wonderful churches like the Santa Maria de Mar. Take in stretches of the city walls and the columns of an ancient Roman temple during our walk - you’re guaranteed to feel the atmosphere and the ambience of this historical city during our time here.

Half Day: Reus

Reus is known for its wonderful selection of wines, as well as for being the birth-place of Antoni Gaudi, whose architectural masterpieces transformed the city of Barcelona. In Reus, admire the modernist architecture, visit the Gaudi Centre, and explore the town’s picturesque market square.

Half Day: Sitges

The cosmopolitan town of Sitges can be found just a short drive from Barcelona, and is famous for its excellent beaches. We’ll enjoy a short trip to this wonderful resort, where we’ll be able to explore its sandy beaches, or discover its bustling town centre. Sample some of the Sitges’ local cuisine at one of its restaurants, or enjoy some shopping at its many shops and boutiques.

Half Day: Tarragona and Evening Barcelona Fountains

We’ll make our way to Tarragona today, where we’ll find a number of historical sites, including churches from several different periods and a well preserved Roman colosseum. The town itself has the usual Spanish assortment of plazas, dotted with cafes and tapas bars.

After our time here, we’ll continue to the famous Magic Fountain of Montjuic in Barcelona. his fantastic fountain can be found in the Montjuic neighbourhood and is located below the elegant steps up to the Palau Nacional on Montjuic hill. In the evenings, this fountain is transformed into a magnificent light and water show, with music to accompany this spectacular performance.
