    Situated in County Mayo, on the west coast of Ireland, at the south-east corner of Clew Bay, an inlet into the Atlantic Ocean, the beautiful, tranquil town of Westport is a deservedly popular tourist destination. The town is said to offer a high Quality of Life, winning the Irish Times’ Best Place to Live competition in 2012, as well as winning the Irish Tidy Towns competition no fewer than three times, in 2001, 2006 and 2008.

    There are so many things to do in Westport. Westport House is a magnificent Georgian estate, which has a history dating back to the 16th century. Today, there are over 30 rooms on show, and a train tour of the estate, through lush gardens and attractive woodlands. Ballycroy National Park is a must for nature lovers, with its unique flora and fauna. Nearby Croagh Patrick is considered the ‘holiest mountain in Ireland, and is a sight not to be missed.
