  • Overview

Hayling Island is an island off the south coast of England, in the borough of Havant in the county of Hampshire. Hayling Island covers only ten square miles and is accessible from the mainland by a road bridge. Its beaches now boast a Blue Flag and the Solent Water Quality Award in recognition of its high standards and water quality. This wonderful seaside resort has 3 miles of beaches right on the doorstep of the Solent and the Harbours of Langstone and Chichester.. Although small, the island has a surprisingly rich and varied history.

Despite being a very small resort, charming and peaceful Hayling Island has so much to offer visitors. The renowned town offers a mixture of rural and marine environments, all of which can be discovered on one of our many tours covering the area. You will be able to explore the town’s superb coastline and enjoy its country village atmosphere, as well as take in the surrounding quaint villages.  With its safe open spaces, fresh air and unspoilt nature, the island provides a delightful escape for those seeking a relaxing getaway.

    Hayling Island

Whilst Hayling Island is best known for its miles of undeveloped coastline, there is more to do than just strolling on the beach. Recent additions to the attractions on Hayling sea front is the Hayling Seaside Railway, a narrow gauge train opened in the summer of 2003 running from Beachlands funfair to Eastoke Corner. Other sites to visit include the World War II Heritage Trail and COPP memorial, commemorating the acts of heroism on the island during the conflict. Also, the historic oysterbeds on the north west coast of Hayling Island have been restored, creating a wildlife haven which has become an important seabird breeding site.
