    About Grantham

    Grantham has an interesting history, having played pivotal roles in many key events. For example, it’s located close to Gonerby Moor, where Oliver Cromwell’s troops advanced over the Royalists during the English Civil War, it’s been home to a number of famous people over the years, and it’s known for producing England’s first running diesel engine in 1892. 

    Today, Grantham is a lovely market town, with lots of nearby attractions and a fair share of things to do in Grantham itself.

    For a great day out in Grantham you don’t need to wander far, as there are plenty of attractions here. Grantham House, for example, is a handsome town house with a walled garden and interesting architecture, and Grantham Museum has lots of intriguing exhibits to enjoy. 

    While in Grantham, be sure to try out the town’s famous Grantham Gingerbread, and you could travel to some of the nearby sights, such as Belton House, Harlaxton Manor and Belvoir Castle.
