Innsbruck’s late-medieval architecture is absolutely iconic, and its squares, buildings and scenery are famous for being beautifully picturesque. The city’s name stems from the German word ‘Brucke’, which translates to ‘bridge’ - the name literally translates to ‘the bride over the Inn’. The city is filled with captivating sights, and so you’ll always be able to enjoy a spot of Innsbruck sightseeing.

The city is also known for its sporting history, having hosted the Winter Olympics in both 1964 and 1976, as well as the 1984 and 1988 Winter Paralympics. In 2012, Innsbruck hosted the first Winter Youth Olympics, too.

One of its most famous attractions is the Golden Roof house, which was built in 1500 for Emperor Maximillian I for his wedding to Bianca Maria Sforza, and is decorated with almost 3,000 copper roof tiles, hence the name.
