Modern and Luxurious Coach Travel

When travelling with Shearings, you can enjoy stylish surroundings and ultimate comfort whilst on-board any of our coaches. We pride ourselves on having the best facilities and features, making your travel as enjoyable as possible. All our coaches have ample leg room, total seat pitch of up to 91cm, reclining seats, air conditioning, hot drinks facility, on-board toilet and much more.

In recent years, we have invested over £22 million to ensure our coaches are one of the most safe, modern and comfortable fleets across the UK. Most recently, we added 29 brand new Mercedes Tourismo Euro VI  coaches, offering the highest quality and service to our customers. We also pride ourselves on customer safety. We've recently invested in the Lytix DriveCam Programme, in order to add an extra element of safety to our fleet and we have a mobile engineering team to ensure our fleet remains the best in class at all times.

Travel in Ultimate Comfort

Each seat on our coaches has been designed with customer comfort in mind. The luxury cushioned fabric and reclining back allows you to relax throughout your journey and take in the magnificent views along the way.  What's more, the total seat pitch, which comprises the distance between the back of your seat and the back of the seat in front, is between 84cm and 91cm, compared to the 74cm - 81cm seat pitches on most standard economy class flights. This means we offer extra legroom and more space than many other short-haul airlines.

The Naming Of Our Shearings Coaches

We asked our Shearings Rewards members to send in their suggestions to name some of our brand-new Shearings coaches. After an overwhelming response, we decided to name over 90 of our coaches. We feel very privileged to have coaches named after people our customers hold dear, and are delighted to share with you the stories behind some of our coach names below...

"I wish to nominate my mother Doris as she used to travel with Shearings for a number of years. She was 99 when she travelled on her last tour before she passed away. Having a coach named after her would be a fitting tribute and a lasting legacy for a great ambassador for Shearings Holidays".

"I would be so happy if you could consider using my Father’s name `Bert’ on one of your new coaches. He was christened Herbert, a name he does not like at all, but everybody who knows and loves him calls him `Bert’. He has been a lorry driver for 34 years at Castle Cement in Clitheroe so now enjoys the fact that he is being taken away stress free and that somebody else is doing all the driving. He is 86 years old and along with my Mother who is 87 they have both had a challenging year. He has recently been diagnosed with early stages of dementia and coupled with the fact my mother broke her hip and elbow earlier this year on a shopping trip meant both had to spend many months in separate care homes which was a stressful time for themselves and all our family. It is through him, and his insistence that the coach can take the strain out of driving, that myself and my wife have been on many trips with you now, and I am very proud that you consider me a Shearing’s Rewards Member. I know the honour of having a beautiful new coach named after him will fill him with pride, and will be excellent for his morale and wellbeing. Though he struggles to get out and has recently revoked his driving license, the knowledge of having a beautiful new coach bearing his name would be amazing for him and the rest of the family. What a legacy!"

"I would like to name one of your new coaches "Kath Shaw" after my Mum who died in 1990. In 1989 it was her and my Dads ruby wedding anniversary and we paid for them to go on a Shearings holiday to the Majestic Hotel in Bournemouth. It was their last holiday together as my Mum died of cancer the following year. They really enjoyed their holiday and I remember going to the bus station in Chesterfield to wave them off and as they boarded the coach, the driver played cliff Richard singing "Congratulations" which I thought was a very nice gesture. My Mum had been very worried about going on this holiday as she hadn't been feeling too well before they went. We are so glad they were able to go and spend a few lovely days away to celebrate their anniversary. I would love to see her name on the side of one of your coaches."

"I would like to nominate the name Keith in memory of my father, who died in 1997 he worked in the yard when Shearing’s was in Altrincham refuelling the coaches when they came in to be cleaned and refuelled after tours and feeders. He loved the job because he was out in fresh air (day job was engineer in factory) and enjoyed meeting all the drivers. Everyone knew my dad he even learned how to drive the coaches onto coach wash which he was incredibly proud of. He also loved travelling on the coaches, he and mum travelled all over the UK and went on their first European holiday (with me as chaperone) on a coach. We travelled to Yugoslavia on the 14 day tour and  they loved it seeing all the amazing sites. There was no stopping them after that, they visited Spain, Italy and Yugoslavia several times. It would be an amazing tribute to a kind and gentle man who was loved and respected by all his family, friends and work colleagues and would make my mum Dorothy so proud."
