About Glenburn Hotel

Set in an outstanding position above its own terraced gardens, the Glenburn enjoys a superb panorama across the waters of Rothesay Bay to the Cowal Peninsula. The town's shops, harbour, medieval castle ruins and sporting facilities are just a pleasant walk away along the palm fringed promenade. Step inside the hotel and you'll be greeted by spacious well-proportioned rooms which offer a level of comfort which should immediately put you at ease. First ever coach holiday

Hotel needs some money to maintain as the building is beautiful and in dire need of makeover. Plenty of choice for dinner, good value! Breakfast was not .Small portions. Entertainment?! Well were a couple in our 30's and the entertainment certainly was aimed at the more mature guest which was a shame as we would of stayed in the hotel. The games room? Ripped snooker table no darts! Maybe replace with giant screen and a Wi-Fi for younger guests?!? Room adequate, kept clean. Helpful staff thanks 4 fan!

Bute-I-Full!

A last minute booking and it proved to be an excellent decision. Downpoint. Transfer times. Can be horrendous depending on traffic. Cut down on this by bringing your own car. Parking at Normanton is I believe £4 a day. Reasonable Standard rooms are a little dated but very clean. Sea Views. Stunning. Staff. Extremely friendly and helpful. Service. Very good. Food. Really very good value Entertainment. Adequate. Value. Marvellous. See full review on Trip Advisor. But otherwise. GREAT BREAK. Mark 8/10.

Glenburn Hotel - Isle of Bute

Young couple in early 20s. This was a surprise trip for my partner - a big fan of Shearings. Booked Superior Room with sea view and wasn't disappointed, stunning room, huge bathroom. Good variety of food but felt was not to 4 star standard ie. instant mash was served. We also thought the portions could be bigger and breakfast was early which meant no lie in on free days. Staff were pleasant, especially coach driver Roy. Enjoyed our stay and would come again but feel these points should be raised

Very enjoyable Christmas

GLENBURN HOTEL ISLE OF BUTE Just returned from five day Christmas break Roy our coach driver was clean smart and informative could be abrasive at times Food was excellent and our waitress Dominica was very efficient. Impressive hotel but could do with lot of improvements e.g. room 208 shower head not secure so basic manual shower also shortage of shelving for toiletries. This can be overlooked when taking the scenic view from the window well worth sea view extra. Recommend next Christmas to all.

Great hotel and holiday

We have just come back from 5 day break had a good driver Stuart clean tidy hotel very roomy waitress Gabriella excellent plenty choice on menu but trifle could be a bit bigger and ten out of ten for bead an butter pudding I would recommend this holiday good all round and value for money and the scenery is fantastic and to top it all you meet lots of new friends.

Glenburn Hotel, Isle of Bute.

Great Value on our second visit to the Glenburn with the Super new Ballroom having great entertainment every night other guests creating good company, We believe the food was the Best we have had in any of the other Shearing visits we have had not that we had any complaints with others but £ for £ the food was lovely served very quickly and well by superb staff as was service of staff in every section of this most pleasant Hotel, Dave our driver great pro playing his part providing great holiday

Beautiful hotel-Glenburn---Beautiful holiday resort-Rothesay.

We have just returned from a 3-night superb stay at the Shearings Glenburn hotel-Rothesay. The hotel compliments the island (of Bute)-overlooking the bay. The promenade gardens are beautifully well kept. The hotel is awe inspiring, as you stand on the promenade and look across and up. First impression- a building of beauty, quality and character. --Cleanliness comes to mind-the foyer, rooms, lounges, ballroom etc. constantly being "looked after" by the staff. Dining room + food A1-thank you all.

Good Hotel

The Glenburn is one of the best hotels I have stayed in room 117 was very large clean also food was great plenty to eat quick service and pleasant staff very helpful. There is so much to see and do on Bute and so much history there. I was very surprised with the variety of entertainment, and the gift shearing’s gave to everyone won't say what as be a surprise when you go. I would look forward to going back there again and can recommend Bute a must place to visit.

Glenburn Hotel

Have just returned from a Shearings holiday to the Glenburn Hotel. What a lovely place! Although I would say my room (223) needed a lick of paint it was always clean and tidy. The dining room needed a bit of a spring clean but the food was excellent and the staff always quick and efficient. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful. I shall definitely visit again in the future.

Glenburn Hotel

We have just returned from our second self drive holiday to the Glenburn Hotel and wish to say what a transformation in the newly refurbished ballroom. It is very well laid out and the entertainment on both nights was excellent. The staff were efficient and friendly and the food was very good. The hotel is in a great location and Bute is a lovely island. I travelled with my partner and two friends. We will be back. Called in at the Tarbet Hotel on the way home and had an excellent lunch.

Excellent value and experience

We stayed at the Glenburn Hotel last week on the HB inclusive package and were very impressed. The staff did an excellent job of looking after large numbers of guests at once. The staff were always helpful and willing which helped make our stay very pleasant, nothing was too much trouble, Our room 108 was clean and tidy. The meals were very good and there was a reasonable choice. I would certainly consider doing something like it again, a good stay thank you.

Great Holiday good value for money

Really enjoyable holiday, the hotel is by the sea in a beautiful setting. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need. The food was good and served quickly we did not have a long wait for any of the courses. The new ballroom is well laid out, I suppose it would have been better if it catered for more people who wanted to watch the shows. The bar staff were quick and efficient, only a wait at the opening of free drinks time and at 10.20 ish, but only because of last free drink time. Fabulous.

Brilliant hotel fabulous time

My husband and I have just returned from a 5 day holiday, staying in the Glenburn Hotel it is our second, break with Sherings. And all I can say is they are brilliant, good value for money. You can’t fault the care they take of you, from the moment you step on your coach to the end of your holiday. I would recommend them to anyone. The Glenburn was a beautiful. Old majestic hotel, Very clean and comfortable, Food and Entertainment was very Good Scenery Stunning we definitely would go again thank you.

Glenburn Hotel

My wife and I travelled to the Glenburn hotel with Shearings, the journey was made more pleasant by the information given out by the driver, Alan, a resident of Bute. The hotel was very clean , and the meals were well presented ,the service by the waitress Moneque was excellent . we were in room 114 which was fine apart from it needed the attention from a paint brush , and new bathroom curtains, but was kept clean everyday by the staff, the only fault we found was the reception, a bit slow

Fabulous

Recently returned from a great 5 day break travelling with Shearings to the Isle of Bute firstly, full marks to our driver Alan who was very informative and knowledgeable. The Glenburn is a beautiful, spacious and very clean hotel, the staff were helpful and polite and our waiter at meal time was also very accommodating, there was a good choice of menu something for everybody, food was well prepared and presented. The newly refurbished ballroom was opened for the first time during our stay WHOW!!!

What a Lovely Place

The Glenburn is a Shearings Hotel and caters mostly for their clients. My room was 109 with a full sea view, this was stunning and spotlessly clean with piping hot water. The room was cleaned every day. We also had room 242 which has a large bathroom and side sea view, also spotlessly clean. With 3 coaches in, the service in the dining room was first class. Many thanks Christof and all the kitchen and waiting staff. The food was great and everyone was friendly. Our coach driver Alan was also great, very knowledgeable about the Island of Bute and all the countless other places we visited. I can only recommend our holiday and look forward to our next Shearings holiday.
