Pitlochry is a superb base for walkers. Ben Vrackie towers above the town, and the Cairngorm Massif is close by to the North. Loch Tummel and Loch Rannoch are also easily explored using the hotel as a base.
Why ‘Hydro’ Hotel?
The building has always been a hotel since its construction in 1890. The ‘hydro’ part of the name was so called because the waters in the surrounding area were found to be rich in hydrogen, and beneficial to health.

Often our most luxurious room option. Most premier rooms have four-poster beds and spacious en suite bathrooms that have been beautifully re-fitted to accommodate both bath and shower options. These large rooms will normally offer a comfortable seating area, 32 inch flat screen digital television, hairdryer and the facilities to make a hot beverage.
Our Superior rooms typically have luxurious beds, 26 inch flat screen digital television, and a spacious en-suite bathroom with shower over bath. These Superior rooms also have the facilities to make a hot beverage.
Our Standard Rooms are charming and have everything you would expect from a modern hotel - private facilities, a TV and everything you need to make yourself a hot beverage.

Had a great time, our driver was a smashing chap lots of info for us careful driver. Hotel lovely, food very good and plentyful, smashing excursions the scenery was very beautiful, nothing was too much trouble, the lounges were comfortable and smart, will be returning in the near future.

First time at the Hydro and cannot fault the hotel in any way. Beautiful room and great meals, dining room staff very helpful as were all the staff. Pool great, enjoyed a swim every day. Public lounges very clean and comfortable and the entertainment great I will certainly be back.

Our first Christmas Break away from home and we would like to thank all the fantastic staff for giving us a wonderful Christmas. Nothing was too much trouble and all staff from Manager down did all they could to make us welcome. Excellent food and plenty of it. Lots going on from guess the Weight of the cake to nightly entertainment. Comfortable rooms and pool was an added bonus. All public lounges were well kept and very comfortable.

First time at the Hydro. Cannot praise the staff and the Manager highly enough. Good hearty food and a very efficient Dining Room Staff, you don’t wait long here! A very comfortable stay in a lovely room and great pool, not too deep (I am not a brilliant swimmer) so I enjoyed a swim most days. What more could you ask for in the dead of Winter! The scenery is spectacular! Thanks again to ALL the staff. We were self-drive and will do so again.

First time staying at hydro at The Pitlochry stayed 2 nights. Staff were great very friendly and nothing was to must trouble. Meals very good and restaurant staff lovely. Will stay again hotel was spotless.

A very big thank you to all at the Hydro Hotel for giving us a superb week at your hotel. The food and staff in the restaurant were as always friendly and helpful. All the facilities were clean and a pleasure to use. We even got the room we asked for as this was the 3rd visit we never get tired of this hotel. We arrived to a warm welcome and the room excellent. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and extremely helpful. The meals were of a good standard and the porridge in the morning true Scots stuff. The leisure facilities were all operating and the Sauna really relaxing. It proved to be excellent value for money for a 2 night stay .The only problem was the bar did not stock the local single malt from the Erandour Distillery which we visited and is highly recommended. Lovely hotel, great location.

We gathered together friends and family to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday and had a wonderful weekend. Most of us are familiar with Pitlochry and the surroundings and once again the outdoors and the weather did not disappoint. This is the third time we have stayed at the hotel and once again we found it very good and wonderful value for money. Can't fault the staff in their willingness to please, they were so patient as well with an eccentric guest who must be very trying at times!

This is a great hotel - very spacious, comfortable and had everything we required for a pleasant weekend break, our standard room with a view was clean and well-equipped. The meals were more than adequate and very enjoyable and the dining staff were amazingly efficient and friendly. I have mobility problems and even though the hotel is up a steep hill everything inside and around it is accessible - especially the pool. Big thanks to all the staff without exception for a wonderful weekend.

We booked through national holidays and did not know what to expect for the money £99 for 4 days 3 nights. The bus from rowels of Prudhoe a little old but ok the driver Keith excellent. The trip up stopped at Edinburgh trip back stopped in Perth very good with some great tours in between. The hotel is large in a commanding position in Pitlochry alas up a steep bank. Public areas clean and tidy the restaurant very good and the pool excellent. The room needed a deep clean but served its purpose Aye.

We have just returned from a weekend break. 1st time at Pitlochry Hydro. Was a bit anxious as reviews in trip adviser were a bit so-so. We needn't have worried. This is a lovely hotel and the decor is very nice. Food was great and staff were so pleasant. Dining room staff were so attentive and service was really good. Can’t think of one complaint about this hotel.

Just a quick one excellent break good value for the money only one moan no haggis neaps and tatties on menu room very comfortable all staff very professional and efficient leisure facilities excellent will probably stay here again well done to all the management and staff.

We stayed here as part of a group of 6 organised by Mrs Twist. The Hotel is in a good position overlooking Pitlochry, the public areas are spotless as are the rooms, We all enjoyed a nice swim in the lovely pool, a special mention has to be given to the restaurant staff we found them to be most professional and the food top notch it beats some 5 star Hotels, As one of our group mentioned Didn’t they look after us, Colin the coach driver looked after us in the tricky conditions during the storm.

Hotel newly decorated, lovely, food very nice, and night entertainment poor. Piano player/singer! Played cards instead excitement was too much, some people went village pubs instead even given up the free bar. Daytime very quiet hotel, everything in village closed till spring/summer so back to hotel with its swimming pool / Jacuzzi which is great and the hotels saviour. It’s really lovely with views down to the village. This is my 3rd time here & I recommend it but the entertainment makes it boring 9/10.

Just had a 5 day break staying at the Pitlochry Hydro. The hotel was excellent. The public rooms are all comfortable and nicely decorated. Good choice of food served by pleasant attentive staff. Bar service very efficient, there was no queue at all despite it being all-inclusive! Our driver, George, was very professional and knowledgeable and provided commentary throughout. Thank you and well done to all, we will definitely be returning!
