Holiday Details

Day 1: Home to North Wales
We depart today and travel up to North Wales, where we stay for our first night. Our holiday begins!
Day 2: North Wales to Roscrea
We take the ferry this morning from Holyhead across to Dublin and continue across County Kildare to arrive in the heritage town of Roscrea and the beautiful Rackett Hall Country House Hotel. This afternoon, the hotel hosts an afternoon of ballroom dancing for us to relax and enjoy.
Day 3: Tullamore Dew and Belvedere House
Today we visit the Tullamore Dew Distillery to enjoy the exhibition, guided tour and tasting – even watch the honey bees at work in the resident bee hive. The stunning property, Belvedere House is our next port of call, a wonderful Georgian estate with gardens, parkland and follies. We learn about the infamous Earl of Belvedere and the unusual tale of the Jealous Wall. Tonight we enjoy a demonstration of traditional Irish brown bread making, as well as Guinness pouring in the bar after dinner.
Day 4: Visit the ancient site of Clonmacnoise
Clonmacnoise is a fascinating historic site, encompassing cathedral ruins, seven churches, two high towers and early Christian gravelabs. The strategic location of the monastery helped the site to become a centre of religion, learning and craftsmanship by the 9th century, and many of the high Kings of Tara and Connacht were buried here. An audiovisual presentation in the Visitor Centre gives us an insight into the area and we have chance to explore, before returning to our hotel.
Day 5: At leisure in Roscrea
Today is a day at leisure, so you can relax and enjoy the hotel surrounds, or venture out to explore picturesque Roscrea, which has also earned the distinction of a Heritage town. Roscrea has an impressive skyline, filled with ancient castles, towers and churches, with buildings dating back to the 7th century. At our hotel tonight we enjoy a mulled wine reception and traditional Irish music entertainment.
Day 6: Irish National Stud, Dublin and North Wales
We depart Roscrea this morning and call at the interesting Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens in County Kildare, experienced by the Queen on her recent state visit, before continuing on to Dublin and our afternoon ferry crossing back to Holyhead. We stay overnight tonight in North Wales.
Day 7: North Wales to home
After a lovely break in the Heart of Ireland, we now make our final way home, and hope to welcome you again to the Emerald Isle soon.
