Holiday Details

Day 1: Home to Dublin
For travel by coach, we make our way to Holyhead and join the ferry going over to Ireland, going on to our overnight stay at the contemporary Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown. If you choose to fly, make your way to your chosen airport for the flight to Dublin. On arrival you will be met by a representative and transferred to your hotel. (D)
Day 2: Dublin to Castleconnell via Shannonbridge
After a hearty breakfast, we leave Dublin and journey across to the Shannon region, calling at Shannonbridge. Here we sit back, relax and enjoy a cruise along the River Shannon before continuing on to the picturesque village of Castleconnell for our five night stay at the Castle Oaks Hotel, set in acres of beautiful countryside. We enjoy a welcome drink on arrival, a bingo night, a quiz night and one night’s entertainment in the hotel bar during our stay. (B,D)
Day 3: The Burren & Cliffs of Moher
There is a great day ahead today, taking in some of the Shannon region’s natural beauty as we enjoy a tour to the Burren, a lunar-like landscape of stone and Alpine flora, and along the Atlantic coast to see the magnificent Cliffs of Moher. Designated a UNESCO Geo Park, the Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland’s top visitor attractions. 214m high at the highest point, the Cliffs range for 8 kilometres over the Atlantic Ocean in County Clare. From the Cliffs you can see the Aran Islands, Galway Bay as well as the Twelve Pins in Connemara and Loop Head to the south. This evening we enjoy a fantastic traditional Irish night of music and dance at our hotel, in the company of the finest singers, dancers and musicians of the local village, including a fabulous four course meal. (B,D)
Day 4: At leisure in Castleconnell
Today you will have the chance to relax and recharge your batteries as we have a free day. Make the most of the hotel’s leisure facilities, including indoor pool, gym, sauna and steam room, take a stoll in the extensive grounds, or maybe venture into Castleconnell village – the choice is yours. (B,D)
Day 5: Limerick and Adare
After a leisurely breakfast we enjoy a jaunt to bustling Limerick, for the chance to discover this ancient city, with its charming views along the River Shannon. We then go on to visit Ireland’s picture-postcard village of Adare, one of Shannon’s best kept secret. With its quaint thatched roof cottages and ivy-clad medieval churches, it is such a beautiful place to explore. (B,D)
Day 6: At leisure in Castleconnell
Explore Castleconnell, rest and relax at the hotel or why not join us on an optional excursion to Tipperaray and Cashel – the choice is yours. (B,D)
Day 7: Shannon region to Dublin
Our time in the beautiful Shannon region is drawing to an end, as we journey back across country, driving through the Slieve Broom mountain range, where the looming mountains rise suddenly from the surrounding plain, giving an imposing appearance. We continue on to Dublin, arriving by early afternoon and you can have the choice of either free time to explore at leisure, or joining our optional guided city tour. Later we make our way once again to the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown where we spend our final night. (B,D)
Day 8: Dublin to home
We depart Dublin and make our way home. (B)
