Take in the Tyrol’s stunning scenery with us on this great break, staying in the charming village of Achenkirch at the Hotel Fischerwirt, located on the north shore of the Lake Achensee. We’ll enjoy three included excursions to further explore the beautiful Tyrol and learn about some of the Austrian traditions in this region.
Join us on a trip to historical Tratzberg Castle, dating from the 13th century. This spectacular castle is known for its beautiful Renaissance-style architecture, and for being Emperor Maximilian’s I hunting lodge.
We will then enjoy an excursion to Rattenberg, Austria’s smallest town. Surrounded by stunning Alpine scenery, we’ll take in a traditional glass-blowing demonstration and will have time to explore at leisure. It will then be time to continue on to the town of Pill, where we will visit the Schnapps Museum, for a taste of the region’s heritage drink.
The next day, we will be able to explore Achenkirch at leisure - why not visit the local museum to discover the village’s history? We can also join a guided walking tour of Achenkirch to see its sights. Back at our hotel, there will be an interesting Apfelstrudel demonstration to take in this afternoon.
Our final included excursion will take us on a relaxing train-ride on-board the Pinzgau Panoramic Railway, taking in the beautiful alpine views. We’ll also call at Krimml Falls, Austria’s highest waterfall, set in the High Tauern National Park.
