    Madeira is well-known for its amazing cuisine, including its many seafood dishes and famous Madeira wine. This beautiful island is also home to some of the most spectacular scenery in Portugal, which we can take in during our time here. We’ll also enjoy an included scenic drive to Santana, where we’ll stop for lunch.

    Santana with Lunch

    Enjoy a scenic guided tour of Madeira, journeying through Camacha, famous for its basketry; Pico do Arieiro, home to the island’s third-largest peak; Ribeiro Frio, known for its freshly-caught fish from its trout hatcheries; and Santana, where we can admire the town’s traditional thatched-roof cottages.

    We’ll stop for lunch in Santana, before continuing our tour through Faial, situated close to Santana; Porto da Cruz, with its laid-back atmosphere; Portela, offering amazing views over the island; Ponta Sao Lourenco, Madeira’s easternmost point; and Machico, the landing point for the first Portuguese explorers, who discovered Madeira.

    Madeira morning
    North East Madeira
    Join us as we take in north east Madeira’s beautiful scenery and many sights, travelling through São Vicente, Ponta Delgada and Arco de São Jorge, a well-known wine-growing area. We’ll then continue our journey to Porto de Cruz, Pico de Facho and Santa Cruz, before returning to Funchal.

    Nun’s Valley

    We’ll make our way to Pico dos Barcelos, where we can take in wonderful views over the valley of Funchal, and will then continue to Eira do Serrado. From here, we can marvel at the valley of Curral das Freiras (Nun’s Valley), along with some of Madeira’s highest mountains. Our journey will then take us to Curral das Freiras, where we may get the opportunity to sample some local cherry liqueur, known as ginja.

    South West Madeira

    Our tour of south west Madeira will take us to Ponta do Sol, the birthplace of American author John does Passos’ family, and then to Madalena do Mar, home to Madeira’s banana plantations. Continuing to Prazeres, we will then call at Ponta do Pargo, the westernmost point on the island, before visiting the fishing village of Paul do Mar, and Calheta.

    West Madeira
    Join us as we visit the famous fishing village of Camara de Lobos, before continuing to the Cabo Girao, the highest sea cliff in all of Europe. Our scenic drive will then take us to Ribeira Brava, where we’ll visit the local church, and then to Encumeada, passing between the north and south of Madeira island to admire amazing views over the landscape. Onwards to Paul da Serra, a plateau at an altitude of 1,400 metres, before visiting Porto Moniz, known for its natural swimming pools. Our final calling points will be at Seixal, with the possibility to see the wonderful Veu da Noiva (Bride’s Veil) waterfall, and Sao Vicente.
