    Our journey will begin in Arnhem, famous for its involvement in Operation Market Garden during the Second World War. Marvel at the changing scenery as we sail first along the Rhine, before joining the Moselle River and then continue along the Saar River to reach Saarlouis, built in honour of Louis XIV.
     
    Once we reach Saarlouis, we enjoy an included excursion to discover the city of Luxembourg, with its amazing architecture and historical attractions. We then follow the Saar back to the Moselle, where we return to the Rhine and enjoy a scenic drive along this extraordinary river - one of the longest in Europe.

This excellent ship provides an interesting mixture of old and new, with both antique and contemporary design and style to suit all tastes. More importantly, this vessel sails along some of the most beautiful waterways and rivers in Europe - with the MPS Da Vinci, you can explore the waterways of Holland, as well as taking Danube, Main, and Rhine River Cruises.

    There will always be plenty of things to do when travelling on-board the MPS Da Vinci on our exciting Europe River Cruises as well, thanks to the superb public areas, restaurant and bar to be found on the ship. There’s also an extraordinary sun deck that you absolutely have to check out when the weather is good, where you’ll find a covered seating and dining area, as well as loungers for the sun seekers out there!

    Or, why not head to the MPS Da Vinci’s lounge area? You’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into a floating private members’ club here, with its large, comfortable sofas and armchairs, and the roaring fire. If you’re musically-inclined, why not tickle the ivories on the MPS Da Vinci’s fantastic baby grand piano, or you could always curl up with a good book from the ship’s library!

    In our restaurant, you’ll be able to enjoy sumptuous buffet breakfasts, three-course lunches and four-course evening meals, and you’ll even be treated to a gala dinner during your River Cruise! Enjoy a post-dinner drink at the bar, or dance the night away to the musical entertainment. While we’re travelling, why not make your way to the ship’s sauna for some rest and relaxation?     Travel by coach to enjoy free time in Luxembourg. Take in some of the city's most interesting sights during our excursion, such as Notre Dame Cathedral, an excellent example of late Gothic Architecture, as well as the Grand Ducal Palace. This is the official residence of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, and is a beautiful building.

    Once the capital of West Germany, Bonn lies on the banks of the river Rhine. The city is best known culturally as the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven and is often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Romantic Rhine'.

    Bonn is very much an atmospheric city with a rich culture. We explore this magnificent city on foot with our expert guide as we walk along Poppelsdorf Avenue to Bonn University, the former residence of the electors of Cologne. We see the Minster Cathedral, the Beethoven monument and the market place with the old town hall.

    Evening Wine Tasting in Cochem
    Join us for a visit to a local wine cellar in Cochem this evening, as we taste and sample some of the town’s locally produced wines. These include the famous and traditional Riesling, which is grown on the sloping hills of the Moselle Valley. Come and compare the different quality levels, colours, grape varieties, and characteristics, and learn how the different wines of this region are produced.

    Join us on our guided walking tour as we explore the pretty little Moselle town of Cochem. The old quarter is dominated by the late-Gothic imperial castle and is dotted with medieval squares and lovingly restored timber-framed houses – architectural gems typical of the Moselle region. 

    We see the market square, the baroque town hall, the Martinsbrunnen (a feature of the town's historical water supply), St. Martin's Church, the former Capuchin monastery (now an arts centre) and sections of the old town walls, including the town gates.

    Explore Saarlouis

    Originally founded by the Sun King, Louis XIV of France, in 1680, Saarlouis has a fascinating heritage, having been under both German and French rule in its long history. Now part of Germany, the city is the capital of the Saarlouis district and has a distinctly French air to it, making it a unique place to visit.

    Our excursion will take us on a guided tour of the city, so we can learn more about its past and see some of Saarburg’s interesting sights. Admire the pretty architecture as we see the St Louis Church and the Town Hall, with its French-style appearance, and enjoy a relaxing stroll along the city’s streets. Why not visit the Großer Markt (Great Market) for some shopping during our time here?

    Get to know one of the oldest towns in Germany on our guided walking tour around the historical Old Town. The charming and romantic streets between the St. Castor’s Basilica and 'Liebfrauenkirche' (Church of Our Beloved Lady) represent today’s main tourist attraction of Koblenz.

    Of course, the sightseeing tour would not be complete without a visit to the Monument of Emperor Wilhelm I at 'Deutsches Eck' (German Corner) and the town’s landmark, the 'Schangel' Fountain in the courtyard of the present Town Hall.

    Join us as we explore this historical city! Cologne has strong Roman ties and is the fourth-largest city in Germany, with more than one million inhabitants. The city is located on both sides of the River Rhine and is home to the famous Kolner Dom (Cologne Cathedral). During World War II, the inner city of Cologne was completely destroyed and was then fully reconstructed in the 1950s. 

    With our expert guide, we see many of Cologne’s fascinating sights, including the ancient Roman city walls, which were the longest in Germany; the impressive medieval gates; and the twelve large Romanesque churches, which are located in the confined area within the boundaries of the medieval city walls. Many of Cologne's churches rank among the most important in Western Europe.

    We also see the world-famous 4711 – the original Eau de Cologne headquarters; the medieval Old City with its impressive town houses, dating back to the 14th century; and the historical Rathaus (City Hall).

    Roman Trier

    The oldest city in Germany and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986, Trier is home to an outstanding assortment of Roman monuments and architectural gems.

    Founded by the Romans as Augusta Treverorum in 15 BC, Trier became the capital of the Western Roman Empire by the 3rd century AD. Our guided walking tour takes us to Porta Nigra (symbol of the city of Trier and the biggest gate of the ancient world), the house of the Three Magi, the Hauptmarkt (Main Market) with the imposing tower of St Gangolf’s Church, the stunning St Peter’s Cathedral and the Liebfrauenkirch (Church of our Lady), which is one of the most important early Gothic cathedrals in Germany.

    We will also take in the Basilica and the impressive Imperial Baths, with their extensive subterranean passages for a true step back in history to the Roman times!

    Wine tasting in Zell
    Visit Zell with us, known for its wine-growing history. Admire the beautiful vineyards surrounding the town, with Riesling being one of the most popular grape varieties. We enjoy a wine tasting experience to sample some of the excellent wines produced here.
