Malgrat de Mar and Barcelona All-Inclusive or Half-Board
The traditional town of Malgrat de Mar is still very Spanish in every sense, with its cobbled streets, quaint shops and local market. Join us as we explore this popular resort and the scenic Costa Brava, with a stay at the wonderful Monteplaya Hotel, which has provided excellent hospitality for over 30 years! From here, we’ll soak up the sights and scenery of charming Barcelona, visit a traditional local market in Blanes, and have the chance to discover Besalu and Girona.

Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then travel overnight by Express Coach to Spain.
We arrive in Malgrat de Mar late morning and have time to settle into our hotel for our first night in resort.

We make our way to a fantastic local market to enjoy a wide variety of local specialities, available to sample and buy. With everything from freshly caught seafood to delicious fresh fruits and expertly crafted olive oils, we'll have a wonderful time at this traditional Spanish market.

The Catalan capital, Barcelona, is a fantastic city to explore at leisure, with its wonderful architecture and bustling atmosphere.
Admire Antoni Gaudi’s incredible Modernist creations, including the as-yet-unfinished Sagrada Familia, and spend time shopping along the famous Las Ramblas boulevard. This mesmerising city is known for its excellent attractions as much for its delicious cuisine, so be sure to sample some of the local food during our time here.

Join our optional excursion to Besalu, which was an important town during the Middle Ages, with its territory extending as far as France and being designated a historic national property by the Spanish government in 1966.
The town is particularly famous for its 12th-century bridge over the Fluvia River. It is a great place to wander through history with a number of buildings dating back almost 1,000 years, still laid out in their original street configuration.

Girona is one of Catalonia’s major cities, and our optional trip here will be spent at leisure, so we can discover this excellent location to our hearts' content.
With lots of sights to enjoy, we’re sure to be kept busy during our visit! There are the ancient city walls and towers which mark the entrance to Girona’s Old Town, plus Girona Cathedral, dating from 1015. This cathedral is home to the world’s widest Gothic nave, although it isn’t the only prominent religious building in Girona – there’s also the Sant Pere de Galligants church, and the Collegiate Church of Sant Feliu.

- All-inclusive upgrade includes the following in addition to half board:
- Daily drinks service from 10am - 11pm at the hotel bar and restaurant, including a large selection of local wines, spirits, soft drinks and cocktails.
- Lunch meals in the hotel restaurant.
- Tapas, snacks and pastries between 10am - 1pm and 3pm - 6pm.
- The all-inclusive package starts after check in and is valid until 11am on your departure day.
- Premium drinks are not included but have a 30% discount.
Monteplaya
The 4-star Monteplaya enjoys a privileged location overlooking the seafront promenade in the resort town of Malgrat de Mar on the Costa Brava. The hotel is in the centre of the resort, close to the shops and bars and only a short walk to the beach. Please be aware the Monteplaya Hotel is an adults-only hotel. No children under the age of 16 are allowed. All bedrooms have a hairdryer, satellite TV, phone, balcony and safe (extra charge payable locally). The hotel also has an outdoor pool and garden (seasonal) and an entertainment programme including Flamenco shows, live music and bingo.
